Interesting Screenshots

They can't? Oh yeah, I used a SGL that I got for Ecology, and used THAT MGL to build an army, to wait for Modern Armor, but I never got there.
EDIT: Said Economics instead of Ecology.

Something unusual I found while exploring with my ship.

EDIT: For all those who can't see, look at the Carthage city name

Right now i'm playing as the Byzantines with seven other civs. I'm on track to conquer the Persians (who hasn't advanced to the medieval era yet, unlike the others). My government is the Republic and i'm getting 20 gold per turn. I have about 2100 gold in my treasury (thanks to a huge business deal with the germans, i got 410 gold!)

Here is a screeny of all my cities.

I would agree with vmxa, and use the luxury slider. You also are at the minimum time for research, which likely means that you could adjust the science slider as well. Whether playing one of my mods, or an unmodified game, I try to avoid having the science slider go over 60, as that likely means that I am going to have problems with domestic unrest. With your treasury, you can afford a bit of deficit spending, and depending on your cities, putting the entertainers back to useful work might come close to balancing out your changes.

Also, depending what is in the immediate area of Trebizond, you might want to cash-rush that aqueduct, and get the population up as soon as possible.

Hippo should always lie right next to Iol.

I believe you will find it is lol.

I try to avoid having the science slider go over 60,

60? Usually, the good place to set it at is the max you can afford or at 10%.

Or, if you will finish a tech in the same amount of turns at, say, 60% as you will at 70%, it's generally wise to set it to 60%. ;)

. . . . You also are at the minimum time for research, which likely means that you could adjust the science slider as well. . . .
Maybe. We know he's at 4 turns now. What we don't know is how many turns he has already invested. It could just be that he has 4 remaining.

I do that every turn. It gives me like 100 extra GPT if i do it.

I keep juggling the science slider constantly, reducing it when I can without loosing research turns, and boosting it when I need to get something faster. I prefer doing my own research, so I normally have it set pretty high, whether I am playing a one of my modified games or a standard game.

I tinker with mine frequently, too, especially as I approach discovery of a tech. That's just smart fiscal management.

What I was getting at is that I didn't know for certain if he was really at the minimum (4 turns) to get the tech. There's nothing in the F1 screen that tells me how long he's been working on a tech. I thought it entirely possible that you were absolutely right, that he has no beakers invested and is running at the 4-turn minimum. On the other hand, if it was simply a matter of having 4 turns remaining out of, say, 15, I thought that turning it up could still reduce the time left and turning it down might save some gold. As it turns out, after I posted that, I pulled an old Monarch level save of mine, and Banking shows up in CA2 at 693 beakers. At 175 bpt (which is what his screenshot shows), 4 turns = 700 beakers, so it seems likely that you were dead on.

Just to prove that any creation, be it by Dr. Frankenstein or yours truly, has no respect for its creator, I post the following screen shot. I was running some tests of my naval mod, seeing what starting positions I would get, assuming that I was Dutch. Now, I have seen some pretty odd locations for AI cities, but this is the strangest starting location that I have gotten. One volcano, maybe, but two?

Yuck, *restart*

that is just sad. the second volcano will only be nusiance, but the first will probably decrease your capital's life span exponentially until it finally blows...
if it weren't for the volcano, that start wouldn't be so bad.
