Yeah, it's that the unhappy citizen is Dutch, while the American is happy.
I didn't add a slave though, the American citizen comes from when I loaned the Great Library to Abe.

Yes. He gives it away before it's obsolete to him. Then he stops researching and when the AI's are advanced in tech he recaptures it. Et voila...free techs...

Yeah. Use the money gained by not researching to fund a massive army and/or drain the AI funds by taking out loans to fund a massive army. Once catapulted into the Industrial Age, bring the hammer down.
