Inventions by your country/state

Bright day Adler17
Silesia was one of Lands of the Czech Crown. But we can say that he was Silesian, agree;) ?
May all your days be bright.

there is very strong evidence that some of the first beers were brewed in Armenia.

Australia:
Those that come to mind.

Scientific inventions:

Atomic absorption spectroscope (Walsh)
Flame ionisation detector (FID)

Aboriginal:
Boomerang

Sports:
Aussie Rules Footbball ;)

Well, Silesia didn´t belong the the Bohemian crown since 1742. It belonged to Prussia, when Mendel was born. So he was a German. Nevertheless when he was born Bohemia was also considered to be part of Germany. ;)
Oh a last word on Reis. His machine was the first able to transport voice. And so it was a telephone. Nobody must think it was perfect.

^Now THAT is wierd.

My country invented football(not Euro-football, real Football) as well as baseball and basketball.

Poland:
Mine Detector, invented in 1941 by a Polish Signals Officer Lt. Stanislaw Kozacki serving with the 1st Polish Corps in Scotland. It was the first practical design of a light-weight, man portable mine detector.
It was quickly mass-produced as the No.2 (Polish) Mine Detector by the British Army just in time for El Alamein which doubled the speed of the allied troops moving through the mine-infested desert. The basic design, upgraded through time, was kept in the British Army until 1995!

I can (not me personally) trace my roots to 11th century (I believe- I am not the one who is interested in that) but I never heard that I am a German:lol:
But propbaly we should not argue about this as we are not impartial.
May all your days be bright.

You'll find euro football is actually real football.... you use your FEET primarily see, not your hands! This arguament also means the demise for aussie rules, and rugby claiming the title of real football.

Bright day
All footballs have common ancestor, which I believe is still played in Italy in some city:confused: ...
May all your days be bright.

SOURCE

According to the Scottish Tourist Board, Scots and their descendants have won 11% of all nobel prizes handed out. :D

There are so many Scottish inventions, it's pretty hard for even me to believe:

Scottish Inventions . ORG.UK

Things Scottish

Which is one of the reasons why the American historian, Arthur Herman, entitled his recent book on the subject, How the Scots Invented the Modern World: The True Story of How Western Europe's Poorest Nation Created Our World & Everything in It. Whether or not Bell or that German dude got to the telephone first is pretty much irrelevant!

actually, the Romans made the first steam engine, altohugh it did not power anything. it was merely little more then a toy.

Yeah...like the Renaissance Italians made the helicopter and Evolution made the first plane. :p

BTW, I don't think Watt actually made the first steam engine, I think he just improved it to make it usable :hmm:

Woaw ! People always consider me as a nationalistic freak, but I think I have find my master with Calgacus ! That list is utterly non sense ! "capitalism" ? Why because of Adam Smith ? You think it didn't exist before ? The first steam engine had been invented by Denis Papin according to my knowledge. The locomotive, the bus, why not the car or the boat ? Those inventions aren't the result of one man or one country but they are the results of time. I don't have time but everything goes this way. So I won't make more comment.

I bet you 100 bucks Calgacus will answer me all that had been invented by scotts alone on their side. By the way Calgacus, are you sure it's not a scot who invented printing ? And the wheel ?

Euro football is the real football.

Argentine Inventions:
By-Pass Heart Surgery (by René Favaloro)

Ballpen (by Ladislao Biro, hungarian working in Argentina, though it was later improved by Bich, a Frenchman in Paris, so we could debate endlessly about this)

Fingerprints (Juan Vucetich, 1891)

the Bus (1928)

First effective helicopter (Raúl Pateras de Pescara, first to fly half a mile)

Blood Transfusion with stored blood (1914, Luis Agote)

Nocturnal Navigation system for planes (1925, Vicente Almandos Almonacid)

Hey...not my list :p

Anyway, Smith is important for making Capitalism the ideology it is: introducing notions such as the "free hand". I'm not naive, commerce and hence capitalism have been about since the beginning of history. You should know that

If the list is impressive,, then don't blame me
