IOT Developmental Thread

I've decided on splitting it like Mosher proposed.

@AA: I really only want to either get rid of countries or leave them there. Weakening countries isn't the objective here, for now.

How is it weakening Genoa if you're giving them an extra province?

Oh, I misread. Thought you meant make Genoa only have two provinces.

It will be.

Thanks to HJ, Mosher, mech+others for suggestions thus far.

Still thinking about splitting Genoa. Any other suggestions?

Just curious, why did you merge Utrecht with Holland and Gelre with Friesland?

The a same reason brunswick, Bavaria, Baden, etc are blobish. I don't want OPMs and those merges make the most practical sense.

So I was just thinking of trade income and I think I thought of a system that works. Countries gain trade income by signing deals with others. The trading countries' incomes are raised by 1 per 10 income their partner has, all sources of income considered except trade itself and gifted income.

So, if country x makes 16 and their partner country y makes 24, country x's income will increase by 2, country y's by 1. I'll think of adding in decimals for numbers in the single digits, but it's unlikely.

Resource rule changes: you can RP for it, getting it for free, or you can start operations to find them. Operations cost 5x, x being the value of the resource which has a max of 5. It is possible to jump straight to a level 5 resource by paying 25 straight, or build it up level by level. It is most profitable to make rp on it, however. You may have only 1 resource per province

Discovering resources also increases your trade value. This does NOT mean you gain more income. Basically, every level 1 resource increases how much your trade partners get by .2. That is to say, 5 level 1 resources raises your trade value by 1; a level 5 resource will do the same. Income will ALWAYS come in whole numbers, so decimals cannot be spent.

So to limit power of trade and general hyper-alliances, how do you guys feel about a 5-diplo actions per turn? This would mean you can only do 5 OFFICIAL diplomatic actions, as in the actions I will post in the thread and that you can still see in the original EUIOT thread.

Yes! Glory To Ulm! Ferrara will pay for the theft of the Ulmer flag! And, eventually, Ulm might become HREmperor.

So, thoughts on these?

I like it. Except for the limit in diplo actions. Surely we can sort it out in some way. Earning diplo points, perhaps?

Your trade thing is weird. Why not have trade be income x .1? That way small nations have an impact if you trade with enough of them and 9 won't go emo. I think RPing resource discovery would be too easy. "While exploring the Amazon, Professor Illinois Smith found laser bananas." Diplo limit will cause me to stab you in the everything.

About diplo limit: it's so I don't get orders like "Request trade/alliance/Royal Marriage with everyone and their mothers". Which I will not do ever. If you have any suggestions about alternatives I'll happily listen.

About trade: care to elaborate? Not quite sure what you mean.

About resources: Considering discovery of resource and it's quality depend entirely of the quality of the rp, I doubt I'd let that happen.

Or I could do that. That'd be more practical, huh?

I still need to think about trade. Sone tried to bring up MP mechanic, but this is Mercantilist Europe. I don't think the Hansa will willingly open free trade to those in Venice's trade league. That said, I can't really think of an effective way to re-introduce COTs without wanting to shoot myself in the face. I'm open to suggestions.

Now about military. I'll be changing a few of those rules.
Army force limits will normally go with the equation 2x+y=force limit. x is the amount of landlocked provinces in the country in question's control. y is the amount of coastal provinces a country controls. If a country has no landlocked provinces, the equation will instead be 3y=force limit. Exceptions to the above rule include:
-France: France's force limit is 1 per province.
-Castille: Same as France.
-Hungary: Same as France.
-Mamluks: Mamluk's force limit is one half its province number rounded up.
-Golden Horde: Same as Mamluks.
-Byzantium: Byzantium's force limit is 2y+x.
-Provence: Provence's force limit is 3 per province.
-Novgorod: Novgorod's Force Limit is equal to Moscovy's.
-Ottomans: Ottomans' Force Limit is 5 more than Byzantine's starting Force Limit.

more on naval stuffs later.

Gotta love how if you get a landlocked province, half your population will spontaneously combust.

Oh, uh... Maybe if they don't have enough landlocked provinces to compensate, their force limit will remain the same.

So until Pommerania for example has 5 landlocked provinces their force limit won't go down by gaining a landlocked province?

Also, Byzantine exception edited.

Hi guys. Some of you might remember my old and discarded Username (I can't). I was a old GM for a forerunner of IOT and I am wondering who do I speak to in order to get back into hosting a game.
Thanks

Also are there any curent IOT games that i can apply for?

As far is I can tell your original User name must have either been Lilpostcount or Duke Blackstone.

Well, I don't know who you are, and the forerunner of IOT (Altered maps thread) was GMed by SonicTH (Taniciusfox) but Dawn of Colonization is open (Join the Oriental Catholic Church:p). IOT IX is pretty much full, I'm afraid, unless you want to fight a bunch of countries (Including my Teahadistan) for Brazil
