IOT Developmental Thread

When is it starting I have a similar game on hold (IOT World of Trade)

I have no idea when I'm releasing it. I've only figured out the game concepts :p

Also, I forgot there's cities in this game, which I'd like to get in detail... (Italics are unsure, although other things could change.)

Cities

Cities are a major component in every victory, so you shouldn't ignore them. They are basically a tile improvement, but a special one at that.

You also have a capital, which you must put in your nation form. Capitals make 3 Gold.

First they cost 5 Gold to found, and they create 2 Gold each turn.

Colonies must be placed on the coast, but if you build a city, you can expand colonies 3 provinces around it.

Cities also determine the amount of armies you can have. A city starts at population 1. The amount of food from the provinces around it effects how quickly it grows. Like if no food is produced, it doesn't grow. If one is made, it grows in 3 turns(I'll be making a equation determining how fast a city grows).

Each population your entire nation has times 2 is how many armies you can field. So if your national population is 8, you can make 16 armies.

I would love it if someone made a map for me of the Americas that was based more on geography than latitude and longitiude. I'm mostly likely use the Napoleonic IOT map for Europe

for clarity

I have decided to start work on a new idea:

IOT: Gangland

This idea is IOT gameplay in a much different scale than normal IOTs.

Welcome to Imperial City!

Until recently, Imperial City's underworld was controlled by the massive Syndicate. But then a massive police operation completely wiped out the Syndicate. Now, in the wake of the Syndicate's collapse, multiple smaller gangs are beginning to form in the city and surrounding areas.

Basically, the idea is that you form a gang, pick a starting neighborhood, and start playing. To expand your gang's operations, you either build units and invade or can use cold hard cash to bribe your way in. But law enforcement will try to stop you. Each neighborhood in the game has a "value." The higher the value, the more the neighborhood will give you back, but the more police there will be in that neighborhood.

I drew an extremely crude map of Imperial City. (It's kinda sloppy, sorry) This is just a general idea, and many of the neighborhoods will be split up for the final map.

Here is the map for IOT:AoD. Red areas are where you will start off, other areas must be colonized.

The boxes are island groups, which count as one province. Boxes attached to the mainland come with that province it attaches to.

Note: The islands by Scoutland belong to that province, butI forgot to put a box around them. Don't worry, that will be fixed.

That sounds a lot like one of the NESes running right now.

:)

Mine will be sort of like that, but different. I plan to have things like events. Also, it will be simpler (less of the gimmicks). I also plan to have each neighborhood to have a different "value" so that players will have to strategize differently than they would in a normal IOT. Basically, it will be IOT with a few extra touches that make it different.

Also, I made a newer, improved map. I currently have 84 neighborhoods, I want to get that number over 100. Still kinda messy though.

How about this:
After the Yuan Dynasty collapse, China is split into many factions, rather the a reunifaction by the Ming.

China and India would end up being the colonial powers...

No. My idea, from the very beggining, was the American nations be the ones colonizing. That was the point, to flip the tables. And anyways, your idea actually makes it less likely for Asian Colonialism. Zheng He, under the Ming, did some naval expiditions. If he actually reached the Americas, no one knows for sure, but he did reach Africa and the Middle East. However, resulting emperors did not like these expiditions, so they stopped the funding of them.

If China entered another Warring States period, I think that the various warlords would be more concerned with unifying China than to see what is out there in the world. Plus, these warring states would be much easier to conquor for the American civilizations, thus making the complex trade route that led to background of colonizing Europe entirelly pointless.

Besides, I'm actually trying to get rid of the Mongols in the first place, hopefully with something better than "Ghenghis had a heart attack". Their existance puts my plans into the stinkhole, as without the Euro Kingdoms, they could easily take over all of Europe like Ögedei wanted to. The only thing that they help me with is that they indirectly helped with the unification of India.

What about Ghengis was defeated in battle by another tribe, so had to spend more time in Mongolia and lost his momentum.

That still doesn't really help. He'll still win, and he'll still unite Mongolia.

Perhaps if his reproductive organs were cut off in battle, Ögedei never gets born, and some general who doesn't know how to lead takes the throne. :mischief:

Naffutan to the nads.

How about he takes Manchuria and Korea, then tries to invade Japan.

(you can see where this is going)

What about the idea that his blood brother defeated him, and the blood brother wasn't able to unite the mongols

Or he choose Chagatai, his first 'legitimate' child (He was convinced the Jochi, his first born was a bastard) over Ogedei. Chagatai military record was terrible compared to Ogedei's, which is why he choose Ogedei, but what if Genghis choose Chagatai?

What was Chagatai's military record compared to "average" generals?
