I'm thinking Eurasia + North Africa, with diplomatic regions (ie can only conduct diplomacy in your own and neighboring regions, so no China talking to the Roman Empire).

Well, if you're going to have a Classical game, you have to have the Mediterranean, Gaul, Asia Minor etc.

If we were to do a Classical game beginning and ending during that time, I would suggest only a small area, perhaps Greece + Middle East. Or what taillless suggested.

I would first of all like to say I am NOT suggesting a classical game, and if I had a vote it would be my least favorite Era to choose. I'm liking Industrial the best.

However, if we are going to play the whole game in Classical, while China existed, IMO it should not be included. Having two portions of the game separated for a whole game sounds dumb IMO. So here's what I would suggest if we're going to do it.

1. Limit the map. Don't go all the way to the Pacific. IMO someplace in India is a good cut off. Macedonia invaded India, the Himalaya Mountains separate it from China, so that should be the Eastward limit.

Southward limit should be Northern Africa. North Africa was as far south as anyone went.

Northward? I don't know if any civilized people contacted North England, but wherever is fine.

Everyone can talk to everyone, but you cannot make binding deals unless you either have a touching border or pay to open up communications.

Frankly, we have to choose where. We COULD do a med. sea one, or a Greece and Middle East, or China, Korea, Japan area, or so on.

Smaller, but more detaled map, like Europe Burning, could be done and just as fun.

If we do a Classical this'd be the sort of map I'd suggest:

Blacked out areas are impassable. The diplomatic regions are shown here roughly as circles. Say you're Rome. That'd put you in the Mediterranean region. You can only conduct diplomacy in that region and neighboring regions, so unless you expand out of the Mediterranean region you can only communicate with countries in the Mediterrean, Northern Europe, Mesopotamia and Africa regions. Diplomacy outside your own region costs double.

I say we do everything but the Far-East and the New World. In other words, Europe, Middle East, India, and North Africa. If we do classical. However, I prefer industrial and we do the whole world.

Oh, so you could still do it? It would just cost more? I like that better, but still not too much. But, really only because I'm not a big fan of the Classical Idea. If we do it I think your solution is best.

Also, if we do Classical, we HAVE to have no DPs, there was simply no such thing back then.

Well, Alexander CONQUERED India so it was possible. It took a lot though. However, I think that is OK, but maybe limit it at Iran instead of India (Like Europe's Burning.) I still like Taillesskangaru's idea.

Has classical been established though? I thought we were still deciding between that and industrial?

True, however, our empires will likely be bigger than the little city-states in Greece.

@Taillesskangaru- Who decides then? I think a poll between Classical and Industrial is the best possible way, but up to you guys.

I will refer you to the Delian League primarily, but also to the Peloponnesian and Achaean Leagues.

I remember that, however that was the nation of Greece and presumably, no wait, part of the nation of Greece and presumably your nation will contain all of Greece at least.

Mathalamus, we are not deciding the era, no matter what Ilduce, Domination or anyone else thinks. The GMs have said that very clearly.

So it´s basically doing all the regions seperatly.
