The Northern Airforce: Patriots For Our Country
In this war between Germany and Italy, it is the sacrifices made by own nation that will lead victory over Rome. No people, however, has made bigger sacrifices than the valiant Scandinavian Air Force. Enforcing a no fly zone set up over the warzone, elements of over 13 air wings ultimately crushed the Italian war machine's field aircraft. Effectively, the nation is permanently grounded due to us, Scandinavia.

However, the ground war is not going as well as the war in the air. This can be easily concluded as we had to spend a good portion of the year hunting down Italian aircraft, and not enough bombing the Italian armies. With their air force destroyed, industrial base smashed, and armies outnumbered, the final fall of Rome to the allies and a liberation of Denmark is near.
However, this is not a time for celebration. In fact, now more than ever Scandinavia needs you! For not until the war is over will all the Danes be able to be in the free republic for the Scandinavians. A Scandinavia not with all the constitutes of the Scandinavian nations is not a true Scandinavia. Thusforth, this republic needs patriotic men and women to put aside their former lives, climb into a cockpit, and fight for our people's freedom. A full article detailing the events of the war as of now can be found inside as always.
Scandinavia Looks Out as a Serious Competitor in Leningrad
Olympic Season is upon us yet again, and this year in 2054 will be held in the city of Leningrad in the USSR. All the nations of the world are sending their best athletes to the city in the chance of gaining incredible prestige and fame in the occurrence of the Winter Olympics. However, unlike the more famous Summer Olympic, generally only nations who regularly experience winter conditions ever do good in these games. Luckily for us, we are one of those nations.
Historically, all the various Scandinavian nations did good individually. Special props goes to Norway for having 107 gold medals and 303 in total in all the events in the Winter Olympics*, more than any other nation in both totals. However, this will be the first time in history a unified Scandinavian team has ever competed as one. Harald Gerhardsen, Norwegian goaltender for the Scandinavian Hockey Team, put it best in yesterday's press conference, "The team has been working really hard for the upcoming event, and we are all really excited to play hockey in Leningrad next month. You'd think the language barrier would screw us up, but really Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian are pretty much dialects of a unified language. However, my buddy over there (Referring to Finnish Center Lauri Nurmi) can attest that Finnish is not like the others. Still, we usually communicate not with words but with our actions on the ice, and there is no translation needed for any of us".
Besides Hockey, another expected gold medal is in Biathlon. A sport invented in our nation, there is nowhere better to practice for this event other than the mountains between the Norwegian-Swedish border it was born from. In fact, a common sound to hear in the ski trails near Östersund was of gunfire from the athletes. As they go off to Russia to compete for their nation, a national tradition shall be with them.
Beautiful Östersund was for the past few months used as a training facility
Leningrad will be the headlines of newspapers everywhere next month in February, as traditional Winter Olympics were held. After 2054, the next Winter Olympic has already been decided to be Munich in '58, followed by us hosting the '62 Olympics in Copenhagen. The next Olympics in general will be the Summer Olympics of '56, determined to be hosted somewhere undecided in America.
