IOT XIV Vic2 Mod - Dev thread thing

so I posted in Argentina about the IOT XIV mod I was making and the response was fairly positive.

Needless to say, there's still a few things left to do. (as in a lot.)

If you want to help here's how

  1. You play IOT XIV and Victoria II with Heart of Darkness:
    See below for all the wonderful ways to opt in.
  2. You play IOT XIV but not Victoria II or don't have HoD
    that's ok, because y'see, I don't want to ruin your country for you. because of this you can help me with the following:
    - Making small flag things: Victoria II needs a GENERIC flag, a REPUBLIC flag, a MONARCHY flag, a FASCIST flag and a COMMUNIST flag for every nation. the size for these flags is 186*128 pixels.
    - Making a list of political parties/factions in your nation : Victoria II was LIBERAL, CONSERVATIVE, REACTIONARY, ANARCHO-LIBERAL, SOCIALIST, COMMUNIST and FASCIST parties or factions in countries. For the purposes of the mod Platonics are included in the Anarcho-liberal group. Just make a list of parties in your country.
  3. You play Victoria II with HoD but not IOT XIV (Fat chance)
    If this is the case you can help by playtesting and/or adding decisions and events.
  4. None of the above
    OK point taken you might actually have a bit of a problem helping out.

Well then now that's out of the way a bucket list is in order.
  1. Finish adding nations <-- TOP PRIORITY
  2. Remove existing nations
  3. add unions (South African Federation, American Hegemony, UAR, Holy Roman Empire
  4. move timeline
  5. add decisions
  6. release the thing on the unsuspecting public and hope it gets picked up by Diplex or PrussianPrince or some other youtuber of some renown

since you hate me, cived, should I even consider bothering to make the flags?
 
I may be able to contribute with some NPC flags and such but since I'm not at my home computer I don't have access to Vicky2

Right, so I've been thinking about how to factor in the People's Militia and here's my thoughts.
- Have an event that fires if you are the Platonic Republic which gives the nation two flags - One raising dissent and the other preventing you ever get this event again.
- The Dissent-increasing flag also allows another event to happen which gives you the choice between staying the Platonic Republic (increasing dissent even more) and becoming the SUDS (Increasing Consciousness). Either way the earlier dissent-increasing flag is removed from the nation to prevent the event from firing again.

Thoughts? There's probably an easier way to do this but...
 
I think the mod should be pushed back until the world is at least 50% full, and then base the start date in an earlier update. This way decisions and events(if event-making is possible, I think I was told vicky2 coding is very limited?) based on what happens in-game can be developed while at the same time allowing for divergences of what actually happens, just like vanilla vicky2. I think that'd be awesome.

I'll note I am willing to learn how to code vicky2 in order to help make this happen. I have some experience with coding so I figure learning vicky2 wouldn't be too much a strain.

On the platonic republic, I think it'd make more sense to have an event that causes Communist/Socialist (whichever the Peolpes militia is considered) militancy to be raised. However, the rebellion being an Islamic socialist one, I'd imagine their numbers would be small. To accomodate for this and make it possible for them to win, I think the republic should also have a flag that basically lowers morale and/or organization of all military units that can be attributed to bad governing or the technical loss to Japan. The event that fires this I think can also be the event that makes sure it never fires again. I'm pretty sure I've seen events that have the effect "this event will never happen" in the very same event.

In the event a rebellion triggers, I think an event that forms a breakaway nation is in order. Both will have a conquest cases belli on the other.

Another event to consider is peacekeeping. Russia in XIV is doing a peacekeeping operation right now in Greece to pacify all tensions in Greece. As we can't go off an randomly declare war in Vicky2, this may need a decision or event of some sort to portray accurately.

As for The People's Militia, there will be various developments over the next few turns so I wouldn't advise really starting on that aspect until the full thing is finished.

I think focusing on country creation should be the priority anyways. Let's get to the other stuff when we get there.
 
Empire of Japan (use the RL Japanese flag) (Militaristic Dictatorship). More will be added later.
 
Since the People's Militia events still continue we will instead focus on the past.

For the Platonic Republic develop consideration towards its objectives (uniting Greece), while having Thessaloniki set a an special event linked with the formation of the People's Militia. However the alternative history, of "what if the Platonic Republic did not try to war with Japan" has to be considered, especially as its army mobilization was a big factor in Thessaloniki's short term independence period after being "gifted" to the Platonics by the Romans.
 
Japanese objectives are to liberate (or conquer, depends on one's views) East Asia (RL PRC, Indochina) from the colonialists and establish a unified East Asia.
