Is a US Border Fence Possible?

Some bad people once built a wall. Hence, walls are despicable. :crazyeye:

Ah ah ah.

As I said, to me it symbolizes failure.

Right. Of the communists....that tried to keep their citizens from fleeing East Germany.

So please tell me....if we are building a fence to keep people OUT....and the Berlin Wall was built to keep people IN exactly how are the two comparable?

Or are you simply saying that a fence along the US border will be a failure in advance without any logic to back that up?

If your solution to an immigration problem is to build a wall, I call that a failure.

Not a wall...a fence. Pay attention. Personally, I say this is just a start. This is most likely only the first thing to be done, not the only thing that will be done.

Or are you so myopic as to think we are going to build a fence and thats it?

Maybe not failure, but I think it represents a hostile mentality in some respects. When you see a property or house surrounded by a giant wall, what do you think? I tend to think some guy who is really concerned about not letting the people have anything to do with his house/property, almost as if saying "get away it's mine," or "you're not good enough to see it." I just don't think a country with a long wall to keep people out gives people a good picture.

Why is it so important to you that it be called a fence instead of a wall?
America
Fence ...images ah white picket fences suburbs the american dream

Wall: images ... Berlin wall symbol of RUSSIAN POWA!@!@!@!!!12121!@! and evil to boot

Because it is correct to do so(??). Is it a fence...or a wall?

Fence in name, but wall in reality. A fence conjures the image of a little chain-link structure, or a picket fence. A fence wouldn't do much to keep people out, I'd say it's a wall.

Edit: Although, I do think of a barbed wire fence, which basically destroys my post.

Yeah thats right, Israel is building its own 'fence', instead of a wall. In a few years, because of all this, 'fence'; will be considered rude too. Then they'll call it 'barrier'.

If I get reincarnated on this planet one more time, Im going to be extremely pissed off.

Building the fence wouldn't be the hard part. it would be actually manning the fence that would be the challenge.

<unrealistic idea> How about having the fence\wall composed of a series of giant hamster wheels. That way, when Mexicans illegally cross the border, they would generate electricity for the country. </unrealistic idea>

They don't wan't to be citizens. Not the majority of them. They come here to make money to send home because the cost of living is so much lower there. If they wanted to be citizens would they have been flying the Mexican flag at their rallies??

I have NO PROBLEM with work visas. You pass a physical, get a background check and you can come work for 6 months to a year and sign up again, or get sponsored by a business for an extension. You break a law, your outta here.

We cannot afford as a nation to keep things going as they are. You think the national debt is bad now??? I have heard (NO LINK) that we spent over 1 BILLION in medical alone for illegals last year. Thats not counting that 20% of our prisons are full of illegals. This country would be as broke as Mexico inside of 2 generations...

Thats just them being stupid and trying to have something to ralley people with.
After El Piolin told them to stop they did pretty much over night.
"El Piolin por la Mañana," has made him a rags-to-riches story, a DJ who beats Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh and Tom Joyner every weekday morning, according to Arbitron ratings.

If it wasn't for him saying maybe we should have a march it wouldn't have happened

What should be done is gather all the illegal immigrants in the US, and make them build the fence, but make REALLY sure that they're building it from the Mexican side... and wait until they're done :mischief:

The East Germans held the record in the High jump for a long while, it just so happened the record was just higher than...? The Berlin wall, coincidence, I don't think so ;):)

It would be an idea, a good one, time would tell? I think the Mexicans would boat round it anyway.

Fence off the Northern Border, it's the longest but them guys are up to something ;) :D
