During the Cuba crisis, the US send an emissary to De Gaulle. The emissary was worried, he knew De Gaulle was distancing France from the USA, and he heared he would not get help. So he started to open his suitcase to show evidences, satellite pictures, etc.
De Gaulle stopped him, and says "no need of proof, America's word is enough. If you say it's war, France is at war beside you".
But now, if you present some evidences, we would double, triple, quadruple check them.
You lose all your credibility with Iraq and WMD.
France will support you again when you will have a just cause, and will be honnest with your allies.
