Is Civ V Playable For You?

Okay, we need a fundamental definition on "playable".

When a peace treaty that is supposed to end didn't end and subsequently FORBID you from ever attacking the other player again is most definitely NOT playable. Because it is not a finished product.

I am surprised to see so many people voted playable. It's either you have a low opinion on the developer (The product is good for their standard) or you have a low opinion on yourself (I only deserve this good).

my only problem with Civ V is that Civs from far away think the best place to put a city is close to capitol, other than that its perfect

lots of freezes for me, so not really playable (well it can be played but its not fun to save constantly and spending 2-3 mins reloading after a crash)

At this point, I'd classify it as unplayable. I can play for short periods, sometimes long periods, but it oftentimes crashes. I'd say 1/4 times I start it, it crashes immediately after the introduction video (which I can't skip), and almost half the time it crashes after completing the "loading" section of starting the game. Then, in the game, it crashes randomly. What's frightening is, I'm actually running it on two separate machines, both of which *easily* fall within the specs range for the game, one above the maximum, and I've actually reformatted one of the machines specifically for the game and updated graphics, audio, and general windows updates to the maximum.

Bottom line, I can play, but it's basically unplayable. I've rarely had a worse experience with a new game - and I actually like what I've experience of the game quite a bit. Firaxis, you released a beta, as far as I'm concerned. You've got me by the balls on Civ, but this type of behaviour makes me significantly less likely to purchase other products you release. Civ IV was a relatively painless release too...

If you remove city states, the game becomes a lot smoother and playable in terms of PC performance.
