Is it just me or after turn 100 you don't get any affinity quest anymore?

Well, at this point nothing from Firaxis can shock me any longer, just anger me more...

... but thank you, Ryoga, for the effort you are making for this community.

Thankyou! Can't wait to see how the AI goes with quests on, I expect it to make a big difference.

I am interested in feedback regarding that, I honestly have no idea how much AI will benefit from that.

I don't know if it is coincidence or not, but the first game I tried with your mod Kavitha completed the Decode Signal around turn 70. I've never seen that happen that early.

Uhm, that shouldn't be correlated unless I'm missing something...

At the very least I'm certain that unlike what happens for regular quests no progenitor ruins are spawned by the AI quest.

I have had that happen before that patch, after the patch, and without his quest fix...

it is a RNG problem. Somewhere on here is a screen shoot of a very early turn, where a human can build the decode signal...

On Apollo post-patch, Elodie managed to build the mindflower on turn 197. She's already at affinity level 16 and this is without your mod.

Prebuilding an invasion force to stop the most advanced harmony AI from winning the game early feels pretty essential now and is rather annoying because it limits strategic choices.

Your mod might make Soyuz difficulty more interesting but I doubt it's a good idea for balancing Apollo.

Yeah I guess this is true. Apollo difficulty has been increased already and AI most likely do not need additional help.

Can you even beat them now that you only have 2 TR per city and health is more of an issue, without unleashing your armies on them?

I played-out a hundred turns on quick/small/7 players/Apollo; my AIs are sitting at about Aff 8-9. I'm not entirely sure how this compares to the 'broken' version since I have little post-patch experience.

I'm not sure exactly what's going on with them, but I'm pretty soundly in last place at the moment, in affinity (my score is lower/middle of the pack) - not my experience normally, but I can't be sure what effect the starting colonist is having, or whether the TR/UA nerfs have just gimped me (I didn't get any ruins either). I'm running Might +20% too, I had to take my Aff 4 units I figured had become a bit useless post-patch just to survive the 50-100 turn period since they were coming at me with Aff 6 infantry etc while I still had Marines/Gunners.

So far so good, I've even apologized to an AI for the first time in this game because I'm a little intimidated by them.

Before turn 100 the affinity increase shouldn't be noticeable, that's because it was heavily nerfed by the patch. The best that they could have gained from affinity quests is 1 affinity point in total. The worst has yet to come, I expect they'll get even more ahead from this point onward.

I think that what you are seeing are mainly the effect of the difficulty increase of Apollo which is consistent with what RealHuhn reported.

Keep playing and reporting though, I wonder if one of your opponents will build the planetary wonder even before turn 197. There should be enough time for at least 3 affinity quests, which will roughly translate into about 3 affinity points more than normal.

Oh you should also be able to confirm that every AI has a 6x affinity resource near their capital and that they all have at least 4 titanium (actually it could happen that they don't get this particular reward, but that's rare).

Thanks for the fix Ryoga. It boggles my mind no one at Firaxis picked up on this thing they should have only needed one test game to notice, but hey, at least the community are here to fix stupid crap like this, right?

It's coincidence. Lucky progenitor ruins can lead the AI to completing decode signal super early (I think I've seen Kavitha get it around t120 in one of my games), nothing to do with affinity quests. Just more bad game design unfortunately.

Play an apollo game, quick speed, got 3 affinity quest the entire game, and all three were before turn 100.... game was over on turn 198, when I completed the emancipation victory... AI were ahead of me in affinity at turn 150, but I quickly surpassed them after that.

AI's were at war with each other from turn 30 on... I never participated in the wars.

Hutuma, completed the the other gate on turn 180, but the ai is terrible in settling the earthers.

Elode completed the supremacy gate on turn 195.

I was the African union.

Alright I guess it's confirmed that AI on Apollo can win the game at around turn 200 now without mods.

Thanks for confirming this - it was driving me crazy. Before the patch, it seemed like researching deeper into the tech web for affinity techs was nice to have - post-patch, it seems like a ridiculous amount of research/science is required just to qualify for a VC. Really broken...

That's just a ridiculous oversight. I really think I'm done until there's a couple more patches. I gave it my best shot but it still feels super broken and this just confirms that. :(

Do note he was on quick speed, though.

RealHun above him had an AI build the Mind Flower at 197 and I have had a couple AIs build at or near t200. I agree with him that you basically need to harass them with your own army because you aren't going to out-race them peacefully, it's pretty annoying. I lost a game where Hutama built it and I may have been in position to harass him but I was sandwiched between both ARC and Brasillia who spammed endless units and refused to make peace from like turn 130 to the end of the game.

Know that feel. In Civ V we had nukes for this kinda stuff.
