I'm not sure what you mean... I say Care-Ah-Mel

Care as in Care Bears.
Ah as in Octopus.
Mel as in Mel Gibson.

I suppose car-a-mel...
 
I call it overcooked sugar that sticks to my teeth and pulls them out if I try to eat it.

Carmel like its spelled. I have no idea where the extra sylable comes from. Is it a regional thing?

The word comes from the Latin, caramellus means sugar cane.

Well then. Interesting. What is it in french? Since thats where most cooking terms come from.
 
So who do we blame for it being spelled carmel? The English or Americans?
