Is it true some systems dont crash?

Not a single crash so far for me. :goodjob:

Running in 1600x1200 resolution (85 Hz) on a 21-inch screen - looks great!

Only problem: Sightly sluggish interface (half a second delay every time I click on a unit or change production in a city, etc). Graphics settings or resolution has no effect on this. Have ordered 512 MB more RAM, hoping it helps.

Intel P4 2.8
ASUS P4P800
512 MB (2x256) Corsair CAS 2.5 DDR PC3200
Connect3D Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB
SB Audigy2
Windows XP Pro

no problems, never crashed and smooth play with 4x AA and 1680X1050 resolution. 25-30 fps when zoomed out and 60fps when zoomed in.

amd 3000+, 6800GT, 1 gig memory.

Wow, that 6800GT must be a decent piece of kit.

No crashes, although I do get some slowdown late in the game, particularly when the game has been running for hours without a restart. Part of the problem may be that I have anti-aliasing turned on (2x) and late in the game you get a lot of objects on the screen at the same time. Then again, it may be a memory leak. Who knows?

Other than having 2x anit-aliasing instead of 4x, I have all the graphics options cranked way up. If and when I do get sluggishness, zooming in seems to help as the game is no longer trying to render quite as much at the same time.

I don't know how many computer opponents I generally have, because I just leave the default on, but I play on a huge map and it seems like an awful lot of opponents. I usually get my space race victory sometime in the 1900s, and I don't think I've gone as late as the 21st century ever. I play at normal game speeds.

Load times seem to be a good deal longer than on other games, but I have no idea how that compares to what other people are experiencing.

I get that strange stutter to the sound any time a movie plays in game, although I don't get that with the intro movie. Sound settings in game are at 5.1 with music turned on.

System specs:
AMD Sempron 2400+
1GB PC2700 RAM
120GB SATA
nVidia GeForce 6600 GT 256MB AGP (81.85 drivers)
Hercules GameTheaterXP (latest drivers)
Windows XP SP2 with all updates

It won't ;) I already have a Gig and very similar specs. I think the little delay is actually a "feature" of the game. To tell the truth it doesn't bother me, in fact I kinda like it.

In my experience, the AA setting is the biggest impacter on performance. At x4, my machine starts to freeze up at times, like when I enable the map grid or load a savegame. Also the trade screen won't work.

At x2, short delays when loading some advisor screens, tooltips a little erratic here and there, some occasional sluggishness in general. But still quite useable.

x0, no problems at all.

I've had a few minor problems, such as diplomacy taking a long time to open and seeing forest in squares I haven't yet discovered, but it's rare. I don't run on the highest graphic settings but not because I can't, because I don't think they improve the game.

XP Pro
AMD Athlon 2100+
512 MB ram
Radeon 9600 XT 128 mb.

Yeah, that's right, I can play cIV with that low specs :)

edit:
I do get slowdown between turns late in the game, but civ 3 is worse so I don't really care.

Well, either you are very patient by nature or the delay you have is a lot smaller than the one I have, because the delay I have in the interface is driving me NUTS! It feels like surfing the web on a 33.6 connection. :) It's only a half a second delay, but it's SOOOO annoying.

Never crashed, never had a graphics glitch. It does slow down in the late years but never take more than 4-5 seconds to do a turn.

Only one end game crash and I've played quite a bit. I've posted my specs on a couple of the many similar discussions.

OK, if you want a detailed system spec, here you go. I have not have any CTDs during game or any graphic/sound glitches or slowdowns on any map size etc. However, the game always crashes when I click TUTORIAL on the main screen. I play in Windowed mode, btw.

It runs perfectly @ 1200x1024, 2AA, everything on high.

P4 2,6 GHz
2GB RAM
GF 6800GT 256 MB
Win XP Sp 2 etc...

All of my civ-interrested friends are also playing the game without problems...

Have ordered 512 MB more RAM, hoping it helps.

More RAM *always* helps. Even if you don't need it, it gives you a warm glow whenever you boot up and you get past any problems so much more easily :)

Sempron 2000+ running at 1700MHz
1024 Mb DDR-400
80Gb HDD with about 400Mb free thanks to BitTorrent
Abit KV7 VIA mobo
128Mb Radeon 9800 Pro worked right out of the gate
Q-TEC 555S soundcard

The game works lovelyly but the framerate sucks late-on

2.0GHz AMD Athlon 64 3200+
128MB Radeon 9600XT
512 MB stick of RAM

I can run the game with AA turned off and all other settings at high. I have never had a crash or experienced any slowdowns.

Oly suffered the 'failed to initialize renderer bug' which the Firaxis fix solved, after that no crashes at all.

Running on 1024*768, 75 Hz without AA - didn't try it at higher resolutions & with AA yet.

The system:
Athlon 64 3200+
1024 Mb PC3200 DDR Ram
Radeon 9600 Pro with 256Mb of ram
Onboard sound
WinXP SP2
roughly 180GB of free hard drive spac.

Pentium 4 2Ghz
1 Gig ram
Radeon x800
Playing at 1280x1024 resolution

Only 1 crash on a Huge Terra map with 17 Civs. Game got very slow and turns took a while when I hit the Modern Era. I have played 5 other games to completion no problem.

Only other thing I have is the Stuttering wonder movies , not a huge deal.

No problems for me, no crashes, no video problems, no rough play, no long loads, nada.
