Is Nancy Pelosi the worst person ever? Discuss..

Obviously I was being a little dramatic.

Point being is the Democrats seem to have a knack for having such extreme party leadership. There are so many democrats that are moderate and fit in with modern America yet they are ignored. Yet the likes of Pelosi, Dean, Kennedy are in the forefront.

Frankly I don't think you can really find many more extreme Democrats than those three...yet they are part of the leadership.

I doubt you know anything about Ms Pelosi and you are probably just repeating garbage you heard someone else say. So what exactly has she proposed which is any way extremist? Here's her stated agenda ethics reforms, a minimum wage increase, pay-as-you-go rules, and implimenting the 9/11 Commission recommendations. All of these are sensable and none are extremist.

Reforming the House ethics laws to curb the massive corruption of the last six years is something which needs to be done and which both sides can work together on. The minimum wage hasn't ben raised in almost a decade and around 70% of Americans think it should be raised so that's another center of the road proposal. Pay-as-you-go government was one of the best things the old Democratic controlled Congress did back in 1989-1990; more then anything else that helped balance the budget in the Clinton years because no new spending could be passed without Congress first declaring how it would be paid for (either by cutting other programs or by raising taxes). Implimenting the 9/11 Commissions recommendations is a slam dunk common sense idea which is 5 years to late in coming. The Republicans never passed it because the recommendation to make all Homeland Security spending based upon needs/likelihood of attack would have gotten in the way of the porkbarrel spending of the Republicans.

It's insane that places like NYC, Washington DC, and LA were getting their security funds eliminated while Omaha was seeing the pork piled to the sky. But NYC, LA, and Washington DC are Democratic leaning areas so the Republicans didn't want those areas to get any funding even though they're the three most likely targets in America.

As long as Bush and Cheney stick around we're good. Imagine her taking over as president. The gridlock needs to be maintained in our government.

I'm a libertarian. And I love many Republicans and Democrats. However, I think Ms Pelosi (if shes human) is the absolute worst person alive in America. Shes like a wanna be Stalin/Pol Pot/feminist all together. How the hell can she be a leader of anything?

Now she is going to be the House Speaker.

The equivalent to her would be like if Bush nominated Buchanon to be Sec. of Defense.

Discuss.

The democrats would dominate American politics if they would have better leadership (as in more moderate?...Dean/Pelosi...gag)
Nice. I think we should come up with some lame designation, as in the Godwynn rule (however its spelled correctly....u know what i mean).

Stalin???? Give me a break? Too funny. Yeah, that W. He reminds me of Hitler.

I'm surprised how many people here have mindlessly bought into the right wing's character assassination without even bothering to see what Pelosi actually says. I don't any of you can actually name something "extreme left" which she has done. She's a liberal but tends to be a very practical one in that she keeps saying we need to balance the budget before we start any new social programs.

The hit job the right wing is running on her reminds me of the swiftboat ads or how Republicans demonized Hilary Clinton. It turns out Hilary really was a centrist dispite Rush Limbaugh and the other idiots claiming she was a communist.

How can you say that with a straight face? Have you ever seen a truly extreme government to either side of the political spectrum? American politics are so narrow that any deviation, however small, is vilified as being extremist. In reality, both American parties are very conservtive, though not extremely so, one just slightly less than the other. You still have most politicians on both "sides" saying they personally dislike abortion and homosexual rights.
