So, I've already used religion twice in multiplayer games with very promising results. In both games my neighbor founded a religion with Stonehenge, so I was able to snuff out that quite easily with my own religion, before it spread out of the founding city. With the reduced competition converting others seems quite simple, especially if using the belief that gives a discount to missionaries and apostles. The religion victory can happen a couple of eras before any player going for a different victory has a change. Also the ways a player, who doesn't have a religion can fight a religious victory, seem very very limited.
I think this is specific to games with few players (four or less), and is made a lot easier by pangaea map type. I don't think this is so easy in a six player game.
What are your experiences and thoughts on this? Is it just that Stonehenge isn't very good, unless you are in isolation? How can two religious players fight each other in the early game, and both still have religion?
