Is this mod single player only?!

Tried the mod with a friend. Installed mod + patch.
Game starts => Crash on one computer!
Another start => Next crash!
Another start with server and client changed => OOS!

FFH2 vanilla works without problems.

The mod looks a bit unstable... :(
 
The issues are being addressed AFAIK. Wildmana has an extremely active and talented developer (hi Sephi); use the bug thread to report bugs (post your save games before crashes) and they'll get fixed.
 
try start a single player game with "play only" to clear settings, then when playing multiplayer, avoid the "ranged combat" option. It is known to cause OOS.
 
I only play it in MP mode.

You should not play as Jotnar, causes OOS every few turns (have not tried them as of 8.1).
If you got Austin AI but the "two leader" one as leading them, then OOS every few turns (have not had them come up as AI in 8.1)

As stated above: turn off Ranged Combat, this does cause OOS.

Wildmana works fine in MP. It is very fun.
 
Ranged combat was deactivated of course. I read that it causes sync problems and therefore left it off.
I played with Scion and my friend faeries. Small map, quick tech on monarch with 5 - 6 AI's. We had barabarian cities and advanced terra forming activated.
 
you both have installed the newest base version + patch of wildmana and deleted the old folder before installing?

you two also have started a play now game before the multiplayer game?

sorry for the dumb question, but sometimes people just forget this.

I guess that's it. We tried the mod for the first time, so it wasn't necessary / possible to delete an old folder. Patch was also clear, but we missed the instructions for the one time play now thing. It's very unusual.
Will try again with that now. Thanks for the hint.
 
I also play Wildmana Multiplayer every now and then. There are issues with Crashes/OOS on first turn, but I also had them with FFH or FF. As long as one player has a autosave from turn0 just load that game. I get no crashes after turn 0 and rarely OOS (which always can be fixed by loading autosave of that turn)
 
I seem to have the same issues with Wildmana. Standard FFH2 the game works fine after loading from the first turn autosave. But we always seem to crash every time we load up multiplayer Wildmana. Does not matter if it is an internet game, LAN, direct IP using Hamachi. Does not matter if someone is in the game with me or if I create it solo (hoping to get the first turn auto save and reloading for my friend to add in) or try hot seat. Every time I start the game on multiplayer I get the green background, the music stops after a few seconds and then it crashes.
 
I've been playing about a dozen multiplayer games (LAN and Hamachi, six humanplayers) and besides the already mentioned Ranged Warfare OOS we have few OOS's during play.

Recently we also had the firstturn crash, which was quite new for us... we hypnotized that it could have been from races who start with an event dialog (believe scions are one of them). But save/reload and everything works fine.

Most of our problems/crashes were attributable to either known bugs, loss of connection (hamachi being slugghish and such) or incompatible versions (which always was player error). So as a whole, i'm quite satisfied with WM stability :goodjob:
 
To add to my previous post:

Some games in WM are great and no issues; but some are simply horrid.

I am attaching our most recent game where we are getting OOS pretty much every turn :(

Human players as Bannor and Balseraphs.

Is this something local on our end? I want to fix it. This is an exciting game.

We got the same issues as Rylune:

1. Starting a new game via Hamachi+Direct IP
2. Green Screen when clicking on Launch Game
3. Music crashes
4. Game crashes

We did the following already:

1. Reinstall Wildmana (as Admin)
2. Start Beyond the Sword (as Admin) --> start a Play now session
3. Load Wild Mana ---> start a Play now session

As said: We do arrive in the Direct IP Lobby and that's it. We don't even get to see the first turn. Any ideas?
 
did you have ranged combat option and jotnar disabled?
 
Snarko of the RifE team appears to have fixed the Ranged Warfare OOS. You might want to get in touch with him, sephi (he's often in #erebus).

He's not actually on the RifE team (would be if he wanted to, but doesn't have the time IIRC), just coding for RifE when he has the time.

Which makes his fix all the more impressive. ;)
 
And I need to disable them to play in MP? Do I have to do that in the .ini or is it enough just to give every player a Civ?

Do we really experience a typical out-of-sync error? I thought in that case the game runs only without connection to another player. We get a crash before even starting a session.
 
Just do not choose to use them in your game.

It may be possible that your crashes are unrelated to those two known issues. In that case i can not help you.
 
Okay ... Afforess, the maker of the Rise of Mankind Modmod "A new Dawn" helped me out big time. In his modmod we had the same problem, only difference was, we had an error message. Afforess advised to delete the "Custom Assets" folder in My Games --> Beyond the Sword on all computers. And what can I say: It works. Both mods work as they should in multiplayer. I don't know why this folder interferes, but the solution helped. :)
