Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the fact isabella ALWAYS founds buddism? It's like spain is defaulted to be buddist every single game I play.

If you play on prince or above, its pretty much impossible to found it yourself due to the AI's enhanced research rate. This doesn't bother me... but it seems its impossible for any of the other AI's to beat her to it. It seems if other civs discover meditation on the same turn as isabella, she gets priority over everyone else.

She's just soooooo predictable, its getting very annoying. I'd be nice for her to miss out on a religion, and have to adopt somebody elses, or even declare war to get a holy city of her own.

Every single game, she founds buddism, and I'm faced with the choice of either capturing madrid, or putting up with all her buddist friends annoying the hell out of me half the game.

I'm just going to cheat next game, and use world builder to gift another civ meditation on the first go.

Eh... why not convert to Buddhism? Then you'd have her annoying Buddhist friends on your side.

It does annoy me how hinduism and bhuddism are the frist religions because in a Earth 18 civs map Issabela always founds one of them and all of Europe is bhuddist or hindu

I do a lot of the time.... I just wish there was some variation. I want another civ to found buddism just for once.

And if you are not buddist the she sooner or later declares war on you.

I agree. I wish the relgions weren't technologies at all - Many religions like Islam, Taoism, Christianity need lots of technologies to be discovered before you can get them. When I first got this game, I assumed it would be like that. As I like culture, I tend to found hinduism as if I go for Buddhism, Isabella beats me to it. Then she proceeds to spread it like wildfire.

Hmm, I wouldn't say that Isabella always founds Buddhism in my games, but she does almost always found a religion (seems like she likes judaism just as much), and she always HATES anybody outside her religion. It's just her personality. She's always at the top of my "Kill if it's convenient" list.

If you get Buddism, she usually gets Hinduism. I always play as Huayna Capac so I get Mysticism on a costom game so that I never get Spain because she always hates me.
Although, I do like the Hinduism sound better, so she still always gets Buddism.

I think what you need is to use the option "random personalities". She won't found buddism if she's too busy building a wonder or warmongering.

But she will found Hinduism and Judaism. Then proceed to Christianity, and possibly Divine Right.

With random personalities on, she may not care about religion at all and may not found a single one.

Although she is predictable, she is a hot set of pixals :)

Seriusly though, whenever I play against Isabella she usually founds 1-3 religions then scraps them when noboydy joins her, or she'll just remain a lone buddist getting fueieus at the 6 other Hindu civs, then eventully dieing...

my thoughts exactly.
isabella gets buddhism because she starts with fishing and mysticism. so she can work high gold tiles from turn 1. because she's a religious nut, she's always gunning for religion, so she usually gets it.

Three things:

1.I hope that we could have an option--Random EXCEPT such and such leader. That way, I can exclude Isabella.

2. Barring that, I generally play Saladin, Huayna Capac, Gandhi, Asoka, or any other leader who starts with Mysticism. I can usually beat her to both Meditation AND Polytheism if I research nothing else. I generally go for Monotheism almost immediately afterwards, too, just to be safe.

3. Barring that, I generally go straight for Monotheism, knowing that she will have founded Buddhism anyway, getting Hinduism and Judaism in the process; however, I am infinately more interesting in Organized Religion. Despite the cost, it allows me to force everyone to HATE Isabella by converting everyone to MY religion.

The fact that Isabella almost always founds Buddhism and then Judaism quickly on top of that indeed disturbs me too. Sometimes she has three religions founded. Another fellow which disturbs me is Hyana Capac. He's financial and starts with Mysticism too, so if his city is near a river, he may work one of those three gold coins tiles first and found Buddhism easily. The frequency of appearance of Hyana Capac in my games is incredible, and he usually has Buddism too, making his capital a financial heaven early on, especially if he has a Great Prophet for the Mahabodhi.

Anyways, religion founding comes just a bit too early in the game for my taste, a couple of 100 years, or some tens of turns, at least and should be spread a bit better over time/turns. Now frequently earlier then 2000BC there's three religions founded and if yoy include the rapid appearance of the Oracle giving you Code of Laws as a free tech -- if you have Writing too -- at 1500BC or earlier, there's already 4 religions aroun. If you check Wikipedia, apart from Hinduism, the other early CIV religions came way later in our history, so it would be historically a bit more correct and more importantly improve gameplay a bit to my taste -- like avoiding the aforementioned predicatblity of Isabella too for one instance.

All in all, I believe too the founding of (the earlier) religions may need some rework.
