Isn't it about about time for expansion pack?

I hope DLC Civs aren't all Firaxis had planned for this game. It's time for a real expansion pack to spice of the game again. They could call it, "Civilization V: Beyond the Bad AI", or something. :D

I'm pretty sure there's not going to be any expansion packs. The DLC serves to add extra maps, scenarios, and civs. The base game itself has already undergone a major overhaul without charging us for it. I'd prefer they continue refining the game like this the way they've been doing without trying to weasel more cash out of us to fix what's broken. Likewise, there doesn't need to be an expansion pack to fix the AI; they should fix it in the existing game.

Well, since I never even use Polynesia, and I paid for it, I don't think I'll buy any more DLC Civ. I think 5$ per Civ is a rip-off anyway, I only bought Babylon and Polynesia when they were on sale.

If they would put a lot of well designed scenarios in a DLC pack I would probably get it, I'm very bored with the Civ 5 standard game now.

That's your right, but in many cases, I get more than I paid for, in fun, from the DLC Civ's. I actually hope they expand on them and add many more, or even different leaders for existing Civ's.

agreed, I've had a lot of fun with all the scenarios, and the new civs... the DLCs have been good value... I hope there are many more to come.

I don't know why people think there won't be an expansion pack. I would be very surprised if there weren't one. They can't release one too soon or people will complain about "paying for bugfixes".

There will definitely be an expansion pack if it is economically feasible, which given how well the game sold it most likely is.

Yeah I crossed 1k hours of this game in its 1st year, and I own the civ DLC's with scenarios but not map packs. I'm down with dlc's here and there and, hopefully, a few more regular patches to keep refining as stated above. I'd rather drop 5 bucks on more content for a game I enjoy then 60 bucks on a risky piece of crap. Or get my buddies to buy it, like GoW3.... Then that's 12 more DLC for me! haha....

What would be the point of an expansion pack that continued updates and DLC do not already address? As it is, buying all the DLC together costs more than most people probably payed for the base game.

Yes, it's time for an expansion pack.

DLC serves to add minor things such as new Civs or wonders. What an expansion pack does is introduce features that add an extra dimension to the gameplay. It might also come with a bunch of new Civs/wonders/techs etc, though I would guess (hope) in Civ 5's case that it doesn't and will be cheaper as a result since we've been getting that from DLC already.

For example one of the Civ 4 expansions introduced espionage and corporations, another great generals.

I don't know what a Civ 5 expansion would add. Perhaps religion back into the game, though this is now loosely covered by the Piety SP track.

I was thinking about this too, what hasn't been in a civ game before. Maybe they could put in prehistoric times or even better greatly expand on the future era. I've always hated the turn limit on civ, it's like they are afraid of the future in Civ games. The only Civ game I remember having any future stuff was Call to Power, not really sure why that series died out, I thought it was decent.

Multiplayer expansion pack. Adds working MP with all new variations of it: PitBoss and PBEM. That would be a nice way to implement it.
Only 14,99$!

There is more than sufficient profit in DLC without the extra effort in an expansion. They are focused on the facebook game in any case; between the two there is no economic justification.

if they bring out an Xpac, they might squeeze some extra cash out of tightwads like me that refuse to buy the DLC

nope there's not going to be a expansion pack. The best you can hope for is a all in one DLC sale or something. I think DLC is the direction the whole gaming industry is taking at the moment.

So I would be shocked if we got a expansion pack. I personally prefer the DLC as I can pick and choose what I want in my game. Which is nice since I don't play mp

Yes there is going to be an expansion pack. The best you can hope for is an announcement early next year.

Wow, making unfounded claims as though they're facts sure is easy.

I would be surprised, however, if they weren't at least thinking about an ex-pack.

I'd love to see an expansion that would add couple of features, like a simple espionage system, rebellion system, random events.

It doesn't need to have new civs, as we have got those via DLC, but a couple of units like a privateer and guerrilla units (that hide nationality!) and a machinegun unit would be my dream.. ;)

And ethnic graphic diversity for some units please. :)

Expansion Packs introduce new features. If they introduce new features through DLCs that would be fine but I would still prefer xpacks because bringing features through DLCs would mess up the multiplayer.

They've already been introducing new features without an expansion pack or DLC. Why end this trend? So far, really the only major features introduced outside of the main game are the three wonders added in the Wonder DLC.
