maybe that's why i can only manage prince ;)
I often can play 1 hour on week days, and a few more on weekends.
So either i don't micromanage at all, either i play very few turns per day.
I feel it's impossible to follow a clear plan with this much stop and go...
I also can only win on prince, you are right, I used to like micromanagement before been married, but now I don't have enough time to do it all the way and I can't follow my plans because I receive a "unexpected attack" all nights in my games..... from my wife screaming "are you going to sleep this evening?????"

This is my sad history....

Ive worked my way up to prince =)

I've been reading this board for awhile and never felt like I had much that was meaningful to contribute until now. This is a subject I find myself reckoning with more and more, as the CIV hook works its way deeper into my lip!

For me, it's CIV+girlfriend+sleep+eat+work. Which one has CIV eaten into the most? Sleep! I used to pride myself on 8 hours a night, and now it's like 6 going on 5. My girlfriend is kind enough not to mention the time I spend on the laptop, which is hers, BTW... but I can see the sweetness waning a little, proportionate to CIV time while she's home. So I wait patiently until she passes out, and then it's...just...one...more...turn! until I finally look at the clock in horror before hastily making it to bed. I guess when I count CIV hours I shouldn't forget the hour or so a day this message board has insinuated its way into my work schedule, either...shhh!

Frankly im shocked anyone who plays this 24/7 even has a girlfriend. I mean if you wernt playing civ 4 you probably were playing civ 3 previously before civ 4 release and were just as addicted.

i aim for 7 hrs sleep
8 hrs work i cant get out of without holiday or quiting
30 mins walking a day (exercise)
Leaving 7.5 hrs to play/ cook/ and do other chores. Less time to post here.

No brats or gf to worry about at mo. Although if anyone on here is called catherine and is great, call me. :mischief:

Hmmm civ 4 dating. wife and partner multiplayers? or father and son nights? Anything is possible with enough computers. Hmmmm

Eat, Sleep and Civ Okay, I'll let you know when I get a job, woman and kids...

Job, Boyfriend, 2 Dance classes, food, sleep, and a cat. I'm doing just fine with it. :)

I'm married with children (2 boys, 5 and 2). My wife doesn't understand how i can figure out how and manage to keep all those cities and units and opponents in my memory and balance it all so everything in the game runs smoothly, when in real life i can't remember to pick up diapers or manage to say something nice to her once in while so she stays happy.

Do you guys think i can learn my 7 year old daughter to play?

My son (8 yrs) is playing nearly every day (i.e. I can't play  ). So you might want to watch out if you really intend to teach anybody in your household......

For me it's: job (70%, yeah!!), wife, 2 kids (3 and 8 yrs), eat, sleep, play real and virtual soccer (www.hattrick.org), and civ4 (if my son ain't playing!)

I suppose that you are a girl ….. (or maybe a cowboy….. ) Doesn’t matter, you are Civ player…..

What does he think about your civ time?

Try to join a sucession game. 5 or so people play a game and take 10 turns each swapping the save to the next player.

You are able to really think about your game and chop it up into little pieces if you want.

Cheers!

Job + Wife/Girlfriend + Son/Daughter + Eat + Sleep + Play Civ IV

It can be done. 3 kids ... oldest is 12... And I train in martial arts (2nd Dan TKD, going for 3rd). Games last a long time, playing a little here and there. sometimes I can get 4 hours in, but then don't play for days.

I am never bored... but sometimes my heath is in the negatives (need to build me an aquaduct ... increase my health).
