Hello all!

I was thinking of starting a game where we'd try to launch a spaceship as fast as we can. I guess that Settler / Marathon would be appropriate settings and Darius or Frederick could be the leader.

Is there any interest for such a game?

Yeah. I'll do that, but I think I'll play this offline. No one is interested in playing such a game. (It's alright that it's not such an exciting idea).

Well I would have been, but I have too much things going on at the moment, without speaking of RL :)
Good luck for your game!

The reason it's not exciting in SG format is that you need to restart a lot to optimize hut luck. Literally, the more settlers/workers/techs popped the better your time will be. 10 BC is pretty extreme but he probably poached a TON of huts and got very good results for them. A combination of skill and VAST patience.

How the heck do you launch spaceship in 10 BC:eek::eek::eek::crazyeye:
At 10BC, normally I maybe just starting my way to Civil Service and that not even near half of the tech tree.

It has a lot to do with luck. Someone could get lucky and pop his first 6 huts for 3 workers and 3 settlers which gives him a huge advantage early when compared to others. Then if he pops, say, 10 huts for techs, that also helps him catapult to Civil Service earlier. Finally, settler difficulty = huge advantages for the human.

Kamino got something like 12-15 cities before 3000 BC, and a pile of techs, up to Currency, IIRC. I think it must take 100's of attempts. A reasonable amount to get is more like 3-4 settlers and 3-4 workers, as DMOC suggested - and that takes a few attempts. That said, he still had to play a near perfect game after.

^^ I agree, while the initial part is mostly about patience and having time, then you have to properly play to land on AC bc... Luck isn't everything (though I am sure DMOC didn't mean it was only luck :))
