"I've got the game thread!" - Post only if you got the game and where.

It's harder to produce in mass numbers - 30 Shields cost. But it looks very cool and teamed up with some cheaper archers it seems to help. The 2 Defense means I've been able to use them to protrude further into my enemies (Arabs) than I normally do with Archers. I've got to get the Arabs Iron source but it's about 3 cities over so we'll see if the Javelin makes the difference.

It hasn't kicked off my Golden Age yet and I'm hoping it won't since I think it's much to early.

CompUSA is now saying 2-3 weeks with no reason why.

Target is now saying the 6th, but I'm still going to check em out.

GameSpot is saying this afternoon.

Best Buy says the 6th or 7th.

Ya know, I never found that joke about 'crossing UPS & FedEX gets you Fed-up' funny....but now that I know its those two companies that are keeping me from my precious...I'm beginning to understand.

I picked it up at an EB Games somewhere in Indiana. They only had 3 copies, now only have 2. The guy told me I was lucky they shipped it morning delivery because games usually come in in the afternoon.

The CD is in a plastic jewel case, not a paper sleeve. The real paper manual is staple-bound and appears only slightly beefier than the PTw manual. (It includes the PTW units & other info, too.) Oddly enough I didn't see any registration cards or product brochures in the box; just the cardboard stiffening/packing, the CD and the manual.

I'm working now and up in a PTW SG tonight, so I probably won't install C3C or play it until late tonight or tomorrow, and I'm sure everyone and their dog will have screenshots and other info up before I get a chance.

EDIT: I stopped by EB shortly after they opened; C3C wasn't on the shelf yet, but when I asked about it he handed it to me from a stack on the counter, apparently having very recently received and opened the box.

I take exception to that. Do you have any reason to believe this so-called delay is a fault of a shipping company? From what EB told me, the publisher publishes the date of the release. That's when it's sent to the distributors. The distributors then have to process that into their inventory systems and then ship them out to their retails stores. You should be very impressed that any stores have them this soon and shouldn't blame a shipping company when you have no idea how it works.

Are you blaming shipping companies for CompUSA's reported 2-3 week delay, too?

On the shelves at EB here in Baltimore (Owings Mills). Headed there right now to get my copy. Called Wal-mart and Gamestop and got the phone equivelant of a blank stare (Wal-Mart) and "It might be in our shipment but I haven't unpacked it yet so I can't tell you" (ever heard of a packing list?) (Game Stop). Looks like EB wins again.

BTW, Breakaway Games in Baltimore is a software developer not retailer (we used to have Microprose in town and Talonsoft Games as well) so if you are in the Baltimore area, don;t bother calling them just go to EB.

In some cases yeah, in the case of CompUSA - no, they dropped the ball.

For example, UPS is to blame for Target pushing it back to tomorrow or late this evening, because it was supposed to be in for today - they admittedly screwed up. The fact that it was today and not yesterday is Target's fault.

Take exception, or take your prozac, but please stay on topic.

Blaming the shipper's is nonsense. I gaurentee this is publisher/distributor/retailer related and not a shipping F-up.

As a former staples consultant (Canada) I can tell you that shippers can and do screw up. I had things shipped to the wrong province :crazyeye: hundreds of miles from where it should have been.

For all you people who live in cities that have EB: I hate you.

Yesterday I did the trek to every retailer in town, like everyone else did, just to find out it wasn't there. Best Buy was the best, when the chick there couldn't spell civilization. I think she tried "civilisaston" or something like that... According the GameSpot, I'm waiting until tomorrow b/c not only does thier shipping take forever, since we're a minor market, we're not a priority.

I got it at Electronics Boutique.

Got it! EB Games got 3 copies in. In the Cleveland area, EB Games North Olmstead shopping plaza. Can't play it now...at work...

Hats off to EB for being the only one's in town (or the country) to have it in stock!

I've worked for retailers, and I've worked for shipping companies. I've worked in warehouses, stores, shipping docks, etc.. I know shipping companeis can screw up, and I know warehouses and retailers can screw up. I also know one company will blame another to get an unreasonable customer off its back. I just took exception to his pointing out two specific shipping companies and blaming them for bad service. He did give a more specific example with Target & UPS, but with my experience it wouldn't surprise me if an employee told him that so they'd quit bugging them about something they couldn't remedy immediately. And I'm not trying to blame Target, I'm just pointing out another possibility.

Folks, C3C is a cool looking game, and even I wound up buying it this morning after previously deciding I would wait a few months for the price to drop. But don't take out your frustrations and broken hopes by lashing out at companies who didn't promise you anything. These retail stores are telling you the dates the game will be available. Don't hold them to Atari's release date posted on their web site. It takes time to move these things around, and boards like this help you know which retailers are getting it stocked most quickly. And I'm not saying blame Atari, either; in this world of computers and air freight it still takes time to move boxes around, scan them into multiple inventory and shipping systems and put them in stores.

I HAVE IT, and it is good.

Actually had to have the EB guy dig through his recent shipment and open three boxes before he found it.

Now, since I have work untill 2200, and a test tommarrow and Friday, I have to wait untill SATURDAY to play it!

Such is life.

I have it now. A day too late (yesterday was my day off! ). Today I work until 9 o'clock at night :(, so I won't be able to indulge (and no screenshots/features list!), but at least I have it. Let the modding begin!

I bought it at EB, E. Beltline, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

I just got mine at the same place. Thanks for the post. While I was in the store, they sold three other copies.

Yeehaw! I got it!

Electronics Boutique in Woodfield Mall (Schaumburg, IL). Made the guy unpack all his boxes until he found it.

Now, I have to suffer through the rest of the workday..unless Bad Arathorn gets his way :satan: But he never does, so I wonder why he even tries.

I do have the manual and the CD in here, though, so I can try to answer questions...but it will be limited to the quality/quantity of information in the manual and will not be as good as screen shots/actual play.

Hey, cool. Wow! Sounds like it might be one of those packs that fly off the shelves. That is definitely a good sign. (Means more patches and expansions. :) )

I just loaded Conquests at work (shhh! Don't tell anyone!). On a slow system (Celeron 800, 32x CD) it took over 10 minutes to install! That's a LOT of content. :D

My copy is currently in Edison, NJ and is (hopefully) being put on the airplane to Santa Barbara.

Already taken care of. See the Conquests features comprehensive survey thread. Feel free to add, though. ;)
