"I've got the game thread!" - Post only if you got the game and where.

Same misery here in L.A......

Best Buy: I was peeking over the name-tagged's shoulder while she looked it up on one of their computers: Thursday the 6th. (I thought they'd have it in the back already and waiting to put out Tuesday morning, so I went in on Monday to try and talk one of their less than proficient employees to give it to me a day early. )

CompUSA: "Civilizations? Can you spell that for me?" ... "C-i-v-i..." ... "Did you say 'G'?" *sigh*

Fry's: the 6th.

Gamestop: None of the one's near me carry more than a handfull of PC games.

FunCoLand (actually a gamestop now, but still listed in the phonebook as a FunCoLand): the 5th! Yippee!

Amazon: Quoted me as shipping on the 11th at the earliest. Grrrr

Too bad I have a midterm on Thursday... Bah, who ever wanted a good grade in Medieval English Lit anyway?

During the 'release party' chat today a couple of people were commenting about having the game already. I think they were in Baltimore, oh and they said they worked for some 'Breakaway' company :)

wow, no one got it yet? quite surprising..you better not be holding out on us!!

Same problem all ways...the date is always changed. In a few days..i hope, the game will be in stores here in Europe. Maybe sonner than US [dance] [dance]

Yeah that would be sweet to laugh at you silly americans for once

Well, of course I have pre-ordered my own copy of it, but it's due to next week.

I wouldn't go ballistic about this. It's commendable that Atari even published the discs this quickly.

A "release date" is typically the date that the product reaches the distributors. The game then has to be shipped to retail outlets. Some stores are better than others at moving stuff through their distribution system (EB), and some are slower (Best Buy). When Atari said "November 4th", I knew EB would have it on the 5th. That's the way it always works with computer games.

Stuie, please remind me next year (at the next release).

Atari has said that, I have pointed it out in another thread, and I'm gald you made the point again...

In any event many people suspect some sort of conspiracy between Atari and the shipping companies. ("delivery problems" as they refer to it)

Mercifully there haven't been any more "why aint mah local store got that thar game yet, ahm gunna git me a lawya 'n sue!" threads since last night...

Here is amazon's reply to my inquiry:

"Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

Sometimes, unexpected fluctuations in supply can add time to our
original availability estimate. We have learned that "Civilization
3: Conquests Expansion Pack" is now back-ordered, and our supplier
has not been able to let us know exactly when they expect to have
more in stock. I apologize that you were not notified sooner of this
change in availability.

To help compensate you for this unexpected change, I have upgraded
the method of shipment for this order to Two-Day Shipping. There is
of course no additional charge for this.

We will keep this item on order and ship it to you as soon as we are
able to obtain it. We will not charge you for it until we ship it
to you. On the date of shipment, we'll send you e-mail confirming
the date, contents, and method of your shipment.

However, as this was not what you expected when you placed your
order, we would understand if you'd prefer to cancel it."

So I'll decide what to do once it is available locally.

Wow, Birdjaguar, I'm really impressed by Amazon's reply to you! First of all, they actually replied in a timely manner (rare these days), and secondly, it wasn't a form letter. Kudos to Amazon!

I'll be playing the next few hours and try to post some screens later this evening as my bandwidth sux where I'm at right now!

I'll try my first game as the Maya - so any questions anyone has please post though I may not get to them until this evening.

@thetyper:

I have a question: do you realize the myriad ways you suck right now? ;)

Have fun, and let us know!

not a form letter? the only unique thing about it is the "Civilization 3: Conquests Expansion Pack" text

god help us if there are ANY problems with this game, because in addition to the 25 "i got it threads" which are about to be opened (thank you for posting that YOU got it in this thread) there will be another 25 saying "atari sux!", "this game sux!" etc)

No big deal deciding between those choices...:D

:hmm:
I *think* I'm going to make an appointment with some friend (cinema...) for Friday night (release is supposed to be Nov 7 here). Accorging to Murphy's laws, C3C will certainly be in the shops then...

I got it!!!!!

Got it at EB at Century III Mall here in the Pittsburgh area. And I came here first!

Now to install and play... See you wanna-haves later! Much later!!! ;)

I have it now. A day too late (yesterday was my day off! ). Today I work until 9 o'clock at night :(, so I won't be able to indulge (and no screenshots/features list!), but at least I have it. Let the modding begin!

I bought it at EB, E. Beltline, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Also got a mail-in $10 in store EB coupon for buying Conquests! $20 for Conquests. Not bad.

Finally!

p.s. Sorry for the outburst yesterday, Jeff. I was just a bit miffed. I'll get over it. Thanks for the reply.
