Successfully stole Motorized Transportation from Maya, China got the tech on the same turn?!

We now 1 tech from Modern Age, we have only 995 gold left and making 317 gpt, our MA with China against Maya will end in 8 turns.
 
So far we are out of diplomatic victory option. Abe now has 50% of the world, we have only 20%. Abe has one last island city to capture and his newly acquired Arab cities has yet to expand border, he recently settled a new city right on top of Houston, the message is clear, he is hungry for land, if Mao dies then Abe will win for sure. For a space race we need too many new techs and it'll be harder and harder to acquire them. This leaves us only one option: Bloodshed! Native American vs. Colonial American. This war can be a difficult one since we must fight Abe on all three fronts and Abe's forces outnumber us at least three to one, we can not deny him resources, he has three rubber and two oil, he has radar towers all over his territory, however, I figure war gives us our the best chance to win this game. We need only a few techs, Radar, Computers, Ecology and Synthetic Fiber. We may want to have miniaturization and robotics to build radar artilleries but it is not crucial. We have to fight China first, specifically we need to raze the city of Nanking, we need the dye and silk there. We already have a large number of artilleries and infantries we need to build a large number of tanks and anti-air weapons, We may need a few nukes as well just in case:D

Tour the cities of the Republic and hire engineers and policemen where needed.
Shift the citizens at St Regis and Salamanca to maximize output and cut waste. Target for the towns was fastest tank build in each. The Hydro plant coming on line in Salamanca will change the equation a little.

I need to push as hard as I can against the Maya and find some way to get on Mao's better side.
He is really angry right now.

Kahnawake finishes its cathedral and starts AA

Abe's flotilla finishes off the Arabs.

Abe's tanks and TOW in the west leave Arabia and head for the Chinese borders.

Artillery and cav take out Maya TOW approaching Chichen Itza.

There is a mountain with Gems south of Yaxchilan and Abe needs Gems. A settlement just north and east of CI would claim the Gems and split Maya in half. The ville would be vulnerable to counters from two side but the pile of Artillery we have would cut Maya attackers to ribbons. The ville would also provide a foothold for a tank assault on Maya either north or south.

Cavalry recon east of CI reveal multiple TOW moving toward the border. They destroy the roads to stall the advance and retreat to within the border.

The Air Force is shifted to the east to fly recon into Maya territory.

Mayan TOW attack our force moving across American territory and capture some artillery. A second TOw attacks the infantry force holding the forest SE of CI and is eliminated.

Smoke's silly generals leave the captured artillery unguarded in the plains and a waiting Cav scoops them up. The recaptured units cripple the advancing TOW revealed by air recon and destroy the Mayan road net. There are two Mayan infantry in the open fortified on hills, but no TOW units left in the neighborhood.

CI is now unapproachable by road and Mayan counterattacks can be blunted in the open and destroyed. The road to the gems mountain is covered by artillery and infantry and will be supported by tanks soon.

The cavalry army garrisoned in Oneida (remaned from Kaminwhatever) has been wrecking the road net to the Mayan capital.

In a probably vain attempt to improve Mao' s attitude make him a small gift of furs. He is willing to sell us Dyes for 45gpt. Thinking that may move him to research Radio for later theft and will keep the citizenry happy buy 'em. He is still mad at us but our people are happier.

With the completion of the Hydro plant in Grnad River we have two cities building tanks every other turn so with the completion of St Regis's tnak the city starts building infantry.

America builds SETI

Mayan TOW counterattack our units in the east and force one cav retreat and kill another. THe MAyan TOW are now targets for our artillery in their exposed positions. They also attack a Chinese infantryman in the east of Naigra Falls and lose another.

A Maya flotilla sails from their capital heading for China while a Chinese transport and frigate sails towards the Mayan capital.

The counterattacking TOW are crippled and one is eliminated. Our advancing forces move into the settlement site by the gems and are joined by the new tank companies. Workers drive rails across the plains to the east.

The Maya land a force in Chinese territory and 2 Chinese marines move past Oneida and into Maya territory

A small Mayan counterforce of 1 Infantry and 1 TOW appear briefly north of Copan and head back into the Mayan plains.

Salamanca grows and riots despite having new coats of many colors. It gets a clown and a tax man to pay for the mess left after the party. Cycling through the rest of the cities reveals more discontent so specialists are hired where needed to maintain the construction space and sing soothing ballads.

Maneuver forces into new city site and run recin into China. The Mayan invsion force is a single TOW at Tsingtao.

Maya TOW attack the the Chinese marines at Calakmul The Chinese lose a marine but kill a Mayan TOW. The Maya attacke at Tsingtao is ripped apart by the defenders. Another Mayan flotilla lands 1 infantryman and 5 TOW at Tsingtao.

A single TOW is approaching Oneida.

A Mayan TOW emerges east of Copan.

Ganogeh grows and riots.

The artillery SE of Copan cripple the Mayan TOW and our new tank destroys it.

Manuever forces at Oneida out of range of Mayan TOW. When he enters the grasslands he will be destroyed.

A tour of the Republic reveals growing war weariness,

Territory in our control has grown by 10% to 22%.

Americans complete Manhattan Project.

The Mayan invasion at Tsingtao is reduced to one TOW by the determined Chinese defense. The Chinese at Tsingtao are down to a single defender.

The Mayan TOW approaching Oneida move into the killing ground on the open grasslands.

Concentrated artillery cripple the garrison at Yaxchilan. A cav sweep eliminates the infantry guarding the approach to Yaxchilan. Further shelling destroys most of the city infrastructure (barracks, temple, library, marketplace) and reduces it to a town of pop5. A tnk attack eliminates a TOW defender. A second tank eliminates another.

The settler founds Kente in the plain next to the gem mine and a library is ordered immediately.

The Cav army does an end run from Oneida to Kente and kills another defender at Yaxchilan. An elite Cav follows and takes the city. I keep it as it completes the division of Mayan territory into two halves and tightens our control in the east.

Another elite cav reverses field to Oneida to support advancing infantry who destroy the Mayan TOW.

Our agent in Maya sends in a report on Calakmul: starving, defended by five TOW, one infantry regiment, and a single field gun.

The Mayan invasion force at Tsingtao is down to one helathy and one wounded TOW, facing a vet infantryman

Tsingtao falls to the Mayan invaders and will be ours next.

Our infantry on the grasslands in front of Oneida survive a TOW attack and the TOW is eliminated. We take minimal losses.

A green tank regiment drives form the core to take Tsingtao and a library is rushed.

Maya has sent a TOW to regain Yaxchilan and he is eliminated by a combined tank and cavalry attack. Both are wounded but survive. Another cav destroys the road connecting Maya's lone oil resource.

The wounded forces at Oneida retreat to the hill

Abe dials us up to cancel the RoP. Although we won't need it to whip China, he'll re-up for jewelry and smiles at us again.

Barrage at Calakmul cripples the defense and destroys most infrastructure. The victorious tank charges out of Tsingtao, eliminates a TOW at the gates of Calakmul en passu, and finishes another defender in the town. The cavalry army finishes the last defending infantry and we take the town.

(Why do I get the feeling that Smoke really regrets his sneak attack, oh so many turns ago. He has certainly paid for it)

Abe calls up to renew the Peace Treaty. As he offers a straight up deal I accept, then offer to buy his ivory for 60gpt as any increase in lux tax will cost more.

Mao also calls and wants to renew the Alliance against the Maya. I turn him down.

He doesn't want to renegotiate the RoP, doesn't even mention it, so I leave it alone for now.

He finally shows up with a two tanks one in the north and one in the osuth. The southern tank kills a Mayan TOW approaching Tsingtao. The northern tank moves toward Q---- on the coast.

Fighter recon shows a Chinese force of 4 tanks, 1 infantryman and a marine closing on Q----

Recon also reveals 2 TOW and 1 infantryman moving on Y-------- (Now renamed Seneca and Calakmul has been renamed Ticonderoga.)

Consolidation in the east.

A settler was ordered and is now dispatched to fill in the eastlands. Once the town is in place we won't be dependent on the Chinese rails to reach Oneida and Tsingtao.

Smoke comes calling: He'll sign a Peace Treaty and give up radio for 125gpt, about a 60% discount from 3rd. Leave it on the table for the team.

Mao suddenly remembers the RoP. We won't need it soon so tell him thanks but no thanks.

Seneca flips back to Maya. It was garrisoned with a single beat up tank. And I forgot to keep it on a starvation diet

The Chinese assault on Q------- in the north collapses.

Seneca gets hit with artillery from Kente. We lose an elite cav retaking the city. This time the population is down to 1 and the cav army cuts the ville's only link to Maya. Artillery and infantry eliminate the Mayan troops heading into garrison Seneca.

Settler founds Kiohero in the east south of CI just as the railnet to the site completes.

Smoke is "Smoke and Mirrors". The realmis cut in half, He's down to two small cities in the tundra and his capital. The next few years should see him pushed back into the tundra. His capital can only be reinforced by sea and doing so would expose his cities in the north to the Chinese tanks and our infantry and growing tank forces.

The deal for dyes with MAo has 12 turns to run. It's goods for gpt so he is not likely to pull a sneak attack on us. The canceled RoP and his northern force isolated from his homeland by our settlements will give us the opportunity to pull his chain a little when the time is right. According to the MilAd we outnumber the Chinese. He's built nine tanks since we stole Motorized Transport from him, so his production is a little better. I've been building tanks out of the cities that could build one every other turn. There are a couple more cities that could go tanks in four.

We have reached the 25% territory threshold with the capture of the Mayan towns and the founding of two new ones. Abe has grown to 54% and should he add China's 9% the game is over. He has a heavy concentration of troops parked in our westlands and the beginnings of an invasion force on the old Mayan coast in our south and the west of China.

Apologise for lack of screenshots, but time is pressing.

Okay, I'm back. Sorry about bugging out back there, crew.

Can we go Communism yet? Maybe it's a little premature since we haven't hit the modern age yet. I'd rather not take on the hyperpower (pardon my French) as a Republic though. Especially once we're down to just stealing from America, veteran spies might be more important than extra cash. It also sounds like we're getting to be pretty big, another point in favor of revolution. Though don't think I've forgotten that a period of Anarchy may be just what Honest Abe has been saving his legions for.

Whatever has to be done, I have absolute confidence that TMcC will do it in excellent form.

The Americans have built 4 spaceship parts, and control 54% of the world's land area. We are going to have to attack real soon. We have access to all 8 lux, and I have no idea where our money went. We are paying 115 gpt to other civs, so I can't revolt until turn 3 at least. I need 5 turns to get enough cash to steal from the Mayans. We have a lot of deals with Abe, lasting out to 18 turns. Unfortunately, I don't think we can keep all of those deals.

This is basically an impossible situation. We need to acquire 5 techs before we can attack Abe. [Radio, Rocketry, Ecology, Syn. Fibers, optionally get Computers]. We can only steal every 3 turns, and Smoke doesn't have all of those techs. Washington is quite deep into American territory, so we can't just send a quick-strike force after it. (Unless we can lead with a Mech.Inf Army). We also need to be in a gov't other than Republic, since we will be losing the 3 lux we are trading for from the Americans.

Put troops into place to assault new Mayan capital. Abe has 6 spaceship parts done. I am beginning to think this won't see the end of my turns.

Capture Lagerto at the cost of 1 Cav. Four Elite wins and no leader. Go for Immediate Steal: fail. Investigate a size 2 American city. They have 7 MA and 2 Mech Inf in a size 2, non-border city.

Mao has razed a Mayan city, but the borders look really weird. Abe has now built 7 parts.

Block Chinese troops from last Mayan city. Need one more turn to be able to steal again.

Lagerto flips back to Mayans, we capture Lazapa. Make Peace with Smoke, paying 95 gpt for Radio. Immediately steal Rocketry from Smoke. No war declaration. Sell Radio to China for 30 gpt + 130 gold.

Upgrade Flaks to Mobile SAMs. Upgrade Fighter to Jet Fighter. Abe now has 8 parts built. I have no idea how to win this.

Lazapa flips back to the Mayans. Shuffle troops around. Plant Spy with US. The Americans have 8 settlers (?). Three Tactical Nukes and 31 F-15's.

The Americans still have only 8 spaceship parts.

Nothing special. Don't have enough money to steal yet. Just a matter of choosing your poison.

Massing troops on the American border. Toasted's choice, go down in flames, or watch Abe fly away.


Final Notes:
Toasted gets to choose the ending. Our troops, such as they are, are massed South of Gasteigon. We may be able to raze Buffalo on a sneak attack, but that still leaves us three cities short of D.C. I couldn't get the leader (or tech) I needed for a MI army, so I think our stack will disappear on the next turn. If we declare, we'll lose by domination. If we do nothing, Abe will probably launch in about 6 turns. We can't revolt, or Abe will launch before we form a Gov't.

Just another example of a run-away AI in Conquests.

Once our rep was toasted, we lost the ability to keep ourselves close enough in tech through brokering. We had one shot in this game, when Abe essentially dog-piled himself. But at the time we were too far behind in troops to deal damage to his core. I think it would have been MW's vs. Rifles, and Cavs vs Spears. After that, Abe just ran away.

Abe still need one more tech to finish his spaceship, so he won't finish it for at least my rule. It's suicide if we declare war now, Modern armor vs infantry, we will get toasted in a few turns. I am Building more infantries and tanks, we'll probably need some radar towers too. We are paying 95gpt to smoke? Hope he get eliminated real soon

What a wonderful time to test our luck so I spend 1557 gold to steal computers from America "immediately" and it's a success! Sell the tech to china for all his cash and 62gpt. Lots of troops are sent to Chinese front to block American troop's advance, I hope this is not against the rules. But it looks like hopeless, Abe has already sent around 19 modern armors and assorted troops in Chinese territory. The best defense unit Mao has is the infantry.

I decide to push our luck and steal another tech from America and it's a success! WOW, we can build MA now.

To the next leader, Abe has been building the ninth part of his spaceship for a long time and he has just started the last part, it costs 320 shields, so he will finish it in 5-10turns, Abe may declare war on us anytime since he is also going for a domination victory, he is really close to that, 63% of the world last time I checked. I've blocked over 40 American MAs in the east, there would be the major battleground should the war start, Abe has 75 MAs in total, 164 MIs and 56 TOWs, he also has 4 ICBMs and 4 tactical nukes, we have 31 tanks and you can upgrade them all right now, you can ask Abe to leave our territory on the next turn, this will start the war, give us some war happiness and most important of all, we can strike first, our artillery will not be effective against Abe's troops, if we fire 30 shots we may only damage 10 of his units.
 
Team, I have a few questions, if Abe has a spaceship part in one of his city and if we capture that city will he have to build it again? Also, how are we gonna know where Abe is building his space parts? Investigate city is the only way? We can probably sabotage the production if we find where he is building it. If Abe has over 66% of the world, will he win instantly, on the next turn or there is a "grace period" for us to recapture lost cities. Any way to detonate Abe's own nukes? :lol:

About 35 of them are fortified on a plain square, the rest are probably in Smoke's last city, Abe still have 35 of those beasts in his main base.

One more thing, maybe we should mobilize, why we've never mobilized is beyond me:confused:

How sad. What'd we do wrong? Did America go unmolested for too long? Or is Fascism just too much when we give it cash-rushes? I find the latter hard to believe.

Any chance we can get a final screenshot or save file, Ted?
