JJ02-The Mystery Variants

should we open the game for new players

Built the Taj Mahal, moved us along closer to Redcoats and began the elimination of the Mongols. Started a Watermill at Turfan, we need some production there.

Had a couple ideas that I did not act on, but we should consider. We can trade techs to Alexander to get him to declare war on Peter, who probably should be our next target. With Redcoats, we should be unstoppable.

The other thought was to pick up a religion to get a strong ally. Possibly Buddhism, since we have the holy city.

T0. Shifted units toward the Mongol front.
T1. Khan invades, but we are able to handle the attack.

T2. Ho-hum
T3. Ho-hum
T4. Great Scientist born in Turfan. Researched 2700 beakers toward Printing Press.
T5. Renegotiated trade with Saladin. Marble for Silk and 5gp/turn changed to Ivory for Silk and 9gp/turn. Used Great Engineer to build most of the Taj Mahal in Delhi.
T6. Traded Nationalism to Alexander for Divine Right and 40pg. Various map trades netting a gold plus.
T7. Taj Mahal built in Delhi. Samarkand captured.
T8-T10. Not much. Moved our attacking force up into Mongol territory.

Got it, might be able to play tonight. If not I will need a skip, as I definitely can't play tomorrow. We probably should open the game to new players, but I'll give Blastiodstalker another day first.

Played, destroyed Genghis. We should be able to cruise to a domination victory.

0. I think I see a variant. All the workers seem to be in pairs. Or is that just how you always do it?

1. Qin has built Versailles.

2. Settle Coventry between London and Bombay. Doesn't hurt our finances much.

3. Battle for New Sarai: Send two suicide cats and kill five longbows and a mace without a loss. Also capture two workers.

4. Kill a random crossbow. Healing.

5. zzz. Still healing.

6. Start Heroic epic in York. Move forces towards Old Sarai.

7. Golden age ends and our finances drop. Replaceable parts-Rifling.

8. Try to attack Old Sarai, but lose two maces and a knight at bad odds before deciding to wait for reinforcements.

9. Start Forbidden palace in Madras. It should take a while, but is a good spot for it. Take New Sarai and destroy Genghis.

10. zzz.

Next player can decide who to go for with Redcoats. I think either Saladin or Peter, though we'll probably kill both in the end.

thats to bad i guess we need to look for 2 replacements.

If you are looking for players to take up the slack in a very interesting SG then I am happy to offer my services!!

Ralph

Cheers, Of course I could claime to have some experience as with Sand's other SG (where the AI gets to make all our decisions) it feels like we are playing a Mystery Variant every time we get to choose something to build!!

Ralph

have you read any of our variants?

Still looking for an average player to make up the numbers - that's me. Haven't looked at any variants.
