She was voted the bestest looking out of all Civ leaders right?

How old was she when she did her thing?
She's my favorite leader.

I thought it would be cool if the Joan in the game looked just like the actress Leelee Sobieski instead of her now. She played as Joan of Arc when it came out on a TV show. She recently appeared in the movie Joy Ride.

What do you think should Joan look different?

I also think that Cleo should look different too, and that the Russian woman too should look different.

Say what you think the girls should look like instead of how they look now.

For me I thought that Joan of Arc's modern style looks REALLY BAD I wish she'd dress nice like in a party dress or teenage girl clothes or business suit not like a skin head or punk rock band.

Late teens. She was 19 when she died.

lol, She's dresses in a punk fashion in her modern incarnation? I have to get this game now!:)

Her modern day Sinead O'Connor look gives me the creeps... She's kinda cute in her cavalry uniform though :)

Cleo looks... Well... Not like I picture her...

Catherine the Great - why couldn't we get a portrait of her in her younger years? Would be an extra good reason to invade those pesky Russians :D

Yah...me 2...I was shocked when I saw her Bald head...yeeesh.

Cowboy headed Hiawatha is the coolest looking IMO...

I was playing civ2 (For nostalgia) and noticed that Cathy's portrait is the hottest thing in the entire game (the foriegn advisor is a close second) now she looks like a pig! please change that Firaxis, for those of us with less than no life!:D

No way, the moderm Joan of Arc with the shaved head and the 'Armee' t-shirt rocks. I would have had to quit my game, even though it was going so well, if she wasn't there to balance out Catherine's Jabba-esqe picture.

I always look at Joan with such admiration oh.....
Anyone have a picture of how she really looks like? (in battle)

i can't imagine a little young girl lead a army of chicken men who runs at 1st sight :)
[i think the soldier actually ran off like that once....but Joan was able to rally her forces back]

If you want to check out the whole Joan of Arc story, watch the film: Joan of Arc - the Messenger, by Luc Besson. It tells the story well, and is also a good film. Much better than any of the others.

I mean, in all the other eras she's a warrior--why not in the modern era?

Want a bad modern era pic? Catherine. Looks like a communist grandmother. Yechh!

Here is a picture of Leelee Sobieski, who many people said really DOES look like the real Joan of Arc did.

Isn't she a beauty?

On a website it said that the only thing is that Leelee is like a foot taller than Joan of Arc really was and her hair was prolly black in real life, but I don't really know because in all the movies she was blond and in Civ III she is brown.

I wish Civ III's one could look like her except shorter and the right hair color (is it blond, brown or black?) and no punk rock band skin head/G. I. Joan one in the modern ages. And that she would look 19 too instead of looking old in that game. She in the modern ages should have hair and look really nice.

Also Catherine the Great I agree was really disappointing. I'd like to play Russia alot better if we had a nice looking young woman than an old woman. We do have old people represented in the game, look at Ghandi.

But she had other devices that kept her busy.

Catherine the Great started ruling Russia when she was young. Why Civ III used that image of her I know not.

Here is a shot of Leelee as Joan in chain mail:

I studied the 100 years war and Joan of Arc at University.

There are NO historical (or no reliable) pictures of Joan - only a few vague descriptions. Anything else you may of heard is embellishment - Joan to the French is like Robin Hood to the English. (maybe William wallace to the scots is a better example).

So there are MANY stories and pictures of her - but virtually nothing which can give us an accurate description of her appearence. (or even of how old she really was - though 18-19 is a pretty good guess on the evidence we have.)

So pretty as Leelee is - there is no way of knowing how closely she resembles the REAL joan of Arc.

Yeah, it's true. I've seen pictures of Joan showing her as a blonde, a brunette, even a redhead. Nobody really knows.

Although, I have to say, Milla Jovovich (in "The Messenger") is very different from how I'd expect Joan to look. She has a Slavic look about her which is just wrong for the role.

You know, reading all of these posts complaining about the female leaders' looks just makes me think that some people should get out more. Hack the image files and replace Joan of Arc or Catherine of Russia with your girlfriend, if you have one.

Seriously, most world leaders of any sex, in any era, were fairly advanced in age, simply because it takes so long to climb to the top of the heap. Alexander and Joan were exceptions. And good looks were never a prerequisite for leadership, at least not until the age of television.

Hey, I hate it that Lincoln looks like an ugly middle-aged guy! Firaxis should make him look more like Robert Redford, and lose the skanky beard!
