Joe the Freakin Plumber, Why Does Anyone Care What This Guy Thinks?

So, Obama decided to go canvassing door to door this weekend in Ohio. Most people in the neighborhood were happy to see him, or at least respectful. All, accept for this one guy Joe, the Plumber, Wurzelbacher who decided he needed to come out and give Obama grief. Of course the corporate media (FoxNews) decided to focus on that guy and nevermind everyone else in the neighborhood.

McCain decided to pick up on this story, and Joe the Plumber supplanted Joe Sixpack as a topic of conversation in the debate last night. Now the corporate media can't stop talking about him. Am I the only person who couldn't care less what this guy thinks? He probably listens to Rush Limbaugh and watches FoxNews all day. He cares about only one thing, his taxes, which he doesn't want raised. By the way, his taxes wouldn't be raised under Obama's plan.

Plumbers are extremely well paid individuals. I don't understand what the problem is, they usually make between 50-70K easy.

Get into oil plumping? 100-120k

Also, Joe the Plumber may be related through marriage to Charles Keating who has a son in law named Robert Wurzelbacher living in Cincinnati. So he could have been a McCain ringer.
Wait, what? Are you serious?

Anyway...

You are aware that 4 of the "Keating 5" were democrats, right? And that McCain, unlike the dems, was cleared of wrongdoing.
He is a registered republican.
I'm a registered democrat. What does that tell you?

The only thing worse than "Joe the Plumber" becoming an issue is people inventing stuff about it.

Only in the US could the partisans go from pathetic to patheticer.

..what?

Joe the Plumber was simply used as a rhetorical tool which McCain used and exploited to some effectiveness during his final debate. Why on earth should all those other facts matter?

If anything, the evidence you have provided in this OP just debunks my understanding of Joe the Plumber as some rich upper class resident complaining that his $100,000 a year isn't good enough.

Because, as I said in the OP, he only cares about his taxes because he apparently hasn't been paying them.

At least he is consistant. That's more than I can say for Obama. He talks lower taxes and he gets lower taxes. That's a real get-er-done kinda guy :)

And you do not have proof of anything ("apparently", "may be"...).

You assembled a list of rumors to attack Joe the Plumber!

What the hell is that? Can't you keep your negative campaigning focused on the candidates? Can't we all just assume that Joe the Plumber is an average ok guy and move on?

Now we need to "vet" everyone who talks to a candidate?! Get a grip, dude. The guy is a symbol making a symbolic statement. He's not running for office. Relax.

In an interview with Katie Couric after the debate this deuche bag said "Obama tap danced around the questions better than Sammie Davis Jr." So he's a racist idiot too:

Haha. Seriously?? Do you know any other famous tap dancers? I don't.

Most pathetic OP in ages. No doubt. It's patheticer.

There have also been unsubstantiated reports that Joe may have a criminal record, specifically he may have beat his ex-wife.

You cannot be serious.

This is a new low, even for the OT forum.

/shrug. Obama actively courts the vote of many here in the USA that dont pay income taxes either. So /meh.

Bill Bennett was the prosecutor on the Keating case, he's now McCain's personal attorney.

Joe the Plumber is making 100K.

What plumber does anyone know who is poor? They charge 75$ an hour for christ sakes do you people live in your moms basement?

Yes, look at the link, or Google Joe the Plumber + Charles Keating.

Bill Bennett was the prosecutor on the Keating case, he's now McCain's personal attorney.

The same Bill Bennet who is a political analyst for CNN?

Well, see, unlike Obama, Joe the Plumber was supposed to represent the American Dream. McCain mentioned how Joe the Plumber was disadvantaged by Obama's policies, while disregarding the mass-disadvantage caused by his.

to counterpoint a post above: Joe the Plumber is not representative of 'An Average American', he's a stereotype for the American Dream.

Why shouldnt we care? Doesnt average Joe American not count in this election?

Joe Sixpack counts as much as Jamal Maltliquor. I haven't heard Jamal Maltliquor's opinion in the media.

Doesn't Joe make like 200,000 a year? Thats not so Joe Sixpack. Specially not in the part of Ohio where he's from.

That you live in an area without any serious Republican Party presence and if you want to have an impact on local elections, you pretty much have to go Democratic by default.

Cause you are not by any reasonable stretch of the imagination, a Democrat.

Plumbers aren't poor and regardless his taxes aren't going to increase. If poor old joe is in the top 1% and does have to pay a few more percent then I'm definitely not going to cry a river for him.
