Just Another Religion Mod (BtS / Modular)

What lines did you change on the Python (CvMainInterface.py)? I am trying to merge this with my mod and I can't get the python to work right (the interface keeps disappearing), so I was wondering if you knew, specifically, what I needed to change/move?

It's not like there are 3 lines of changed code, that i could list here...

All changes are taged (by the original author - johny smith).
Search for his name in tags, and or use winmerge to see the changes.

Well thanks for trying, but that isn't really helpful. Not all of the differences are tagged, I am looking in Winmerge and there are a lot of differences between the two files and I am not sure which ones I need to keep in mine and take from yours. So are you saying that ONLY the parts that are tagged (or say this #<Start 47 Religions) or whatever are the ones I should worry about?

As far as i can tell, all changes to the original files are tagged.
This should be mainly two large blocks.

The other differences must be from the mod you are trying to merge into, so you probably should keep these. But i really can't tell you what exactly you need to take or keep - this depends on where you are trying to merge it to - which i probably not know, since i do not play many mods.

Yeah, you'd have to see the screens and there are different indentations and things that I don't know much about. The other problem is that the changes in the other mods are NOT tagged, so I don't know what to do about this. And there is, sort of, an overlap because one of the other changes we made was adding Inquisitors, and we have Inquisitors for each religion so we would also have to add Inquisitors for these religions. Which means its more than just plugging in this code, I'd have to add Inquisitors for these religions as well. I was just trying to finish this mod by the end of the weekend and then one of the players in my group was interested in adding this to the mod, so I am trying to do it on my own and I haven't been successful, and I can't really read Python so I only have a rudementary idea of what is going on (from adding the Inquisitors). Thanks anyway though, and if anyone has any tips for me that would be helpful too.

What I meant by question four; if I set Darius to Zoroastrianism as a favorite religion, for example, and I played a normal game without it (I doubt I ever would though once this mod is in) will it cause anything to crash?

The game won't crash actually. (I did quite much Beta testing and I had this one by accident too.) If you give Darius die favored religion Zoroastrianism but do not load the JARM-xmls you will get a message when the game starts, something like "Tag Religion_Zoro is unknown", and you have to click on "OK" manually. This is quite anoying if you have many leaders with the new Religion Tags because each leader will give you this message. But nothing more will happen, the game will start and run normally. I am not sure, but I think Darius (or whoever) will use the NONE tag instead.

Once again, I'd like to say that this is a great mod. I am using some of your religion assets in my own mod, with proper credit given of course. I am using your icon for Shinto, but i didn't see a grayscale version to be used when the religion is not yet founded. (I can post a screenshot if this doesn't make sense.) Could you possibly post one? It would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure, if I understand your question correctly. But it is a "designers decision" that the Shinto Icon is not displayed before the religion is invented. This is done by the two Python-files included. You can just delete those twos, but if you do, the city screen and the religion screen will be quite overcrowded with religion icons, which can't even be invented anymore (because seven religions are allready invented).

If I can make a suggestion... What about Dodekatheon or simply Pantheon for the Greco-Roman religion?

And do you know if anyone has modded the Ghost Dance religion yet?

I am having a bit of difficulty getting the GameFont.tga and the GameFont_75.tga files to work the way I need them too. I added the Just Another Religion Mod to the Mod I am working on and some of the new religion symbols don't show up properly. This is my third attempt at editing it right and everytime I've tried it I've had different results but with basically the same two logos. Here is a comparison of the ORIGINAL artwork from the JARM and the artwork I am using in my game. The third picture is an example of part of the problem. This city founded Zoroastrianism and what shows up are the three symbols seen in the picture. I don't know much about editing graphics or modding in general so it may be something simple I am failing to recognize, so ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Since it won't let me put the same attatchments in two threads I'll direct you to the other thread I posted this in; http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=7248387#post7248387

BTW thanks to everyone for being patient with me, I really do appreciate it.

Well, I can't say more about the Gamefront files than Refar and I can't see enough in the screenshot. If you really don't find the problem, perhaps you can attach your modded Gamefront files.

@Junuxx: I'd prefer Pantheon too, but unfortunally there is allready a world wounder with that name, which will cause problems in the Civilopedia. But what do you mean by Ghost Dance Religion?

The Pantheon (temple in Rome) is not a World Wonder in standard BtS? Are you referring to a wonder in a mod, or are you confusing the Pantheon with the Parthenon?

Anyway, Ghost Dance was a religious movement among Native Americans at the end of the 19th century, see wikipedia. I think it would be cool and flavourful to have an appropiate native religion for North America. Would be useful for Earth scenarios, too.

Probably I am.

Sounds interesting. I have some other religions I'd like to add. The problem is, I don't have enough models for buildings. This Ghost Dance thing sounds quite difficult to find any buildings for, but I am open to suggestions.

You could start doing some yourself :mischief:
I think you know enought of the tools and building models is a good object for practice.

A quick question: has anything significantly changed in this mod component since I tinkered on the scaling and leafnodes for the new religion buildings?
Just asking because I was on vacation the last few weeks.

JustATourist updated it with your adjusted buildings, but otherwise nothing new.

My last try to create a model by using spline modelling was quite a disaster.

Hey, sorry to bug you guys. But I successfully merged this into my mod, thank you for your great work. I have one problem though; in the religious advisor screen the Religious Influence percentages don't show up (not just for the new religions, for all of them). I probably made the mistake here, but do you know where I may have screwed up?

Hey, I am sort of bumping this thread and re-asking a question about a problem I am having. Here is the religious advisor screen from a mod I am working on which has JARM attatched to it. Yes it is the same one, I know some of the logos are different but I just changed the graphics, nothing else. The Religious Influences don't show up, and I was just wondering what file is responsible for this and what code am I missing (although I did just attatch the JARM to this so maybe there's a problem in that too)?

As far as I can see, that screen is as its supposed to be.

Care to attach a screen from the main game, as comparison?

EDIT: scratch that, I see what your problem is.
Is this a screenshot from somewhere midgame, or a screenshot taken after you gave some cities a religion and dropped out of the worldbuilder, without ending your turn afterwards?

The is a screen from a normal game (no worldbuilder was used). This has been the case in every test game I have run. Doesn't matter when I check it there is never a number for the Religious influence.
