Hey everyone, I just got Civ4 as well as the warlords and BTS expansions and also the colonization version of the game for a great deal on Steam for 9.99. I've always been intrigued in the series, and this being my first strategy game I'm loving it!

Anyways though I had a few questions that I didnt see answered in the FAQ's for newbies.

1. Which expansion should I play for the best single player fun and overall quality? I've only played the original Civ4 so far because it got the highest metascore on steam and I figured I'd start on the ground level. I'm assuming that everything in the original game is included in the expansions so with that, what would offer the best experience?

2. Which version has the biggest online community? If I ever get into the multiplayer aspect of this game, I'd like to know which expansion or game to play to have the most fun.

3. This is more like an assumption that needs some clarification...I'm thinking from what I see that Colonization is seperate and more like a stand alone game whereas beyond the sword and warlords are specific expansions to the original Civ4 am I correct in this?

I would appreciate any help I can get so I can continue to enjoy this game as best as possible! :D

Warlords have all of Vanilla (short of Scenarios)
BTS have all of Warlords and Vanilla (short of Scenarios)

Nearly everyone plays BTS

Colonization is a stand-alone with the same Engine

As Sian said. Also, download the BUG mod, if you decide to play Beyond the Sword (called BTS on the forums). It does not change any of the game play but gives you all kinds of information about what is going on in the game in a convenient format. The same info is available anyway but takes so much hunting to find, without BUG mod, on each turn that you won't usually know most of it.
