Kanye West knows he did something very wrong when...

Maybe you weren't around back then...but Reagan built a coalition of "Reagan Democrats", who were mostly blue-collar which catapulted him into the WH for two easy election cycles.

They voted for Reagan not out of identification with him, but out of disillusionment with the Democrats, whom they viewed as having turned their attention towards other downtrodden like African Americans and the poor, and were no longer "champions of the working class" (as if they ever were!).

So....yeah.....obviously the working classes identified with him. In fact, the left has tried so hard since to emulate his successes with this crowd, to only partial success.

"The Left" knows he was a despicable plutocrat. The democrats hang off the ghost of Reagan's cock with the rest of American politicians, because, surprise surprise, they aren't leftist.

Now to be fair, and everyone who's been paying attention knows I disliked Reagan intensely, Reagan was extremely popular with the working class. And not just the bigot types that he lured into the Republican party. The breakdown of the Democratic coalition in the 70s left a lot of Americans at loose ends politically. Reagan's charm and cowboy image played well. Particularly with the rural working class.
