I voted pro, I felt sorry for the little buggers. As of now, they're extinct
I didn't mean to hurt them

Seriously, Cracker, you did a great job. With the squids, the mystery terrain, the barb puzzler GOTM XVI excels on all territories.

Perhaps in the future we could play with a customized civ, ie everybody will have to find out the way to play with them.

For example: The Flemish, leader Duke of Flanders
;) ;) ;)

You get my point.
Perhaps a deity game with lots of opponents and a customized civ with 3 traits, but this would come with a price, no UU.

I liked the squid, but they're too weak and should be given some stealth, if possible.

I lost two galleys to the squids before I recognized their strength. Then I took the time to build a portus (veteran galleys !) and that worked much better. I also took every change to attack them myself, to get the attacking bonus against barbarians.

I did build a harbor and comissioned Cumae (built on the coast) to build galleys. Unfortunanely though, the animations freaked me out so much that I rarely bothered to attack them. Two squids took out an exploration galley.

I lost two galleys attempting to cross the ocean, another one made it fo fall to a squid (couldn't attack - used all my moves) and one other one while going down the coast - another squid assult.

  :(

I love squid(I really do!). GOTM deserves extra units in the scope, as long as it doesn't disrupt too much on the flow of the game. I was both terrified and delighted at the modifications and additions in GOTM16. And my terror was the adrenaline kinda terror :)

Keep em!

Yes, keep the giant squid. Especially after seeing all of these ads for that horrible "Octopus II" movie coming up on Sci Fi...

squid were an exellent starting point.
what about lions prowling the zulus,
english happy faces reduced by the marauding australian cricket/tennis/rugby/soccer teams,
spartacus led slave worker uprising against the romans,
the introduction of the euro to reduce bizmark's buying power,
UN inspectors to report on suspicious military buildup - you have to move all your artillery around to avoid detection and
introduction of civ3 to reduce worker productivity in modern ages

Welcome to the GOTM DaLightHorseman. I obviously don't need to say "Have Fun and enjoy your game" ;)

Mmm. Calamari. I like mine fried with lemon and cocktail sauce.

When I spotted the first giant squid I wasn't sure if it would crawl up on land and kill my warrior.

This was my third GOTM. Keep up the good work!

I loved the squid. The sound didn't phase me at all because I removed my sound card!!

Maybe we could have a natilus from 2000 Leagues some time.

Unique barb units are ok, but do we really need hundreds of them? How about a baby squid in the Ancient world and a Momma squid later that can take out ironclads?

Besides editing Barb units, it would be ok to change ONE civ's ONE unit to a unique name/graphic and change the a.d.m values by no more than one. But don't tell us which civ. With no fore knowledge we all would have to learn how to deal with the one mystery unit during the game.

If firaxis ever fixes the problems with Y-scale scrolling, it would be nice to have this as a variant also. {Bugs: 1) too much tundra, 2) city names disappearing, 3) not being able to see newly created roads sometimes.}

It seems like Y scale enabling often divides the waters and it is interesting to have to figure out which sea to put ships in.

Enjoy your imaginative input.

Bring it down to 2hp and it would satisfy me. :D :)

I have a question about the squid: If we are playing in a, say, SG, and there we aren't using the squid, will I have to uninstall the squid every time I play that game and then reinstall every time I play the GOTM? If so, then can the squid. If not, then keep it! :)

Not positive but I think you can have as many unused unit files in your art directory as you want. The game only crashes if the save file needs a unit and can't find the art folder it needs.

Keep the squid but you won't see it in your regular games

Keep the squid!!
And add a new unit in EVERY GOTM. I want to end up playing Civ4.
