What a mess.
Hey G1K did you ever really prove you could read? I know I passed you the letter I had, but did you read it before Gamez had already told us what it said?
Gamez sent me another letter, I posted here the content and he confimed, so I'm 100% literate.
Okay, here goes nothin'.
I said somewhere long about day one or two that wasting time down the "who can read" rabbithole that Argon's shenanigans had created was a bad idea.
I cleared Gamez, for my own senses, when he outed himself as the letter writer to end the confusion about the letter as best he could. That clear was accepted by a lot of people, and guaranteed that no wolf wanted to take Gamez into LYLO and eventually got him NKed.
And here we are at LYLO with literacy being a key element in the decision making, even after it has been a perpetual cause of chaos from day one on. How does that happen?
I got a letter, and went on my own literacy rampage. G1K was worried about the possibility that the letter really was a clue and admitted that he could read to get his hands on it before we knew that letters were meaningless drivel pumped by Gamez. Now, a townie may very well want a clue containing letter, so that at the time seemed like a sensible play.
Then two things happen. I make a mistake in saying MJ can read, and it occurs to G1K that admitting he could read may have been a mistake because one letter writer plus one reader for each side actually makes sense. Note that MJ never corrects my mistake, and neither does G1K, who had actually cared enough about the literacy question to suggest that "the wolves have their own literate." No clearing up confusion by reminding everyone that he had indeed mentioned being literate until long after the confusion was getting stale...and was about to get MJ lynched.
Now all of a sudden we have "oh, yeah, that was me that was literate" and "how did you know I was literate in the first place" and the confusion goes on. Which reader should we lynch? I dunno, lynch someone else and we'll figure it out later...maybe there's two town literates (Visor was one)...or maybe we shoulda just lynched them both and called it a good job.
Then we lynch MJ and find out that he wasn't literate at all. G1K should have been immediately spot lynched, and there is only one reason that he wasn't, and that he still hasn't been. Pzelda pops out of the woodwork and says "oh, yeah, by the way I can read."
And the beat goes on.
If we lynch in the literates, the "other literate" is cleared, so long as it is G1K that is lynched. Pzelda just has to glib out of having not been NKed for being the towniest....some sort of WIFOM play, I assume.
If we don't lynch in the literates, we lose.
Pzelda did the single wolfiest thing in the entire game, he claimed literate to keep us from lynching G1K on the spot. And he almost got away with it.
@Golden1Knight what's your take here?
Its a really nice theory. The problem is that wolf Zelda would not claim to be literate unless to save a me-wolf, and since I'm not a wolf none of this works. I dont see wolfZelda claiming literacy this late just for the sake of it, too risky with all that literate lynch talk going on.
Hey, yes. I work through EoD tomorrow.
Tim forgetting what day it is and being extremely frantic seems townie, honestly.
Gotta read through the votes and MJ's posts. Then I will make up my mind. I don't think Zelda is just trolling us.
The problem is everyone seems willing to lynch G1K. Hmph.
I will unvote. But I will vote before EoD. Probably before I go to bed tonight at the latest.
I agree with Tim looking very town with his confusion and panic posting lol
The theory also sounded like a real attempt at solving, so for the sake of my sanity I'm going with a townTim scenario from now on. If he faked it all then he deserves that victory
So let me get this straight:
Tim thinks G1K is a wolf.
Jo thinks G1K is a wolf.
Zelda thinks G1K is a wolf
I think G1K is a wolf.
Either someone is bussing or G1K is not a wolf.
I'm not a wolf. That explains all mafia wolfing me right now, if I somehow survive today and we get a wolf, I'm still easy lynch tomorrow
Because that was the clear tone of the thread at that time anyway. Two literates (in theory) and one is the literate wolf. They were gonna be the lead wagons and I'd guess they both knew it. Play it for town cred whichever way it goes. Survivor very solidly plays "there are not gonna be two literates among the wolves, there's barely room for two plus Gamez in the entire town." Of course that doesn't work for G1K because he had already admitted being literate and would expect to be immediately turbolynched unless another literate player showed up.
Ok, so this literacy stuff got wild.
Me-wolf building an entire case on MJ due to him being literate and not reading the letter, getting him lynched, then revealing to all town that we wasnt literate at all, to just bus him or something? I dont see how making myself a suspect
and getting my wolf buddy killed would make any sense. After I pushed his lynch I was still not read as town, and the one mafia literate theory meant that I was going to be lynch material till the end of the game. Me-wolf would rather never confirm literacy and just lynch my wolf buddy, thus becoming the next townie town sensation. Or even better, I would not have even pursued my wolf buddy at all, since it was really viable to carry MJ to the end of the game, his name only coming up the suspects list because of the letter situation (I still cant figure out why he lied about being able to read, but if I was on that QT I would have seriously advised against it lol).
What I do know however is that the wolves are having a good time watching us in this mess with all the letter writing chaos that somehow survived all the way to LYLO.
The best we have is a literacy theory that depends on a mechanic that we do not completely understand, with a slim hope that the wolves necessarily have at least one writer. This is madness
