Playing first game as England. The sequence with the English king is hilarious. I have seen it quite a few times now but it always makes me laugh out loud :lol:

Congratulations to the Firaxis team who worked on that. It's priceless. I'm English but don't worry, I'm not offended.

Anyone else found stuff in this game that they really love ? :)
 
I know stuff that I hate in the game.
It's the sound of the kiss and background 'wow'. Funny at first time, but become very annoying with time.
 
Oh man the English king is so creepy! I play as French just to avoid him! blergh!

Also, is there a way to delete the kissing sound effect? Seriously: I mute the sound every time because I don't want my roommate to ask any questions haha!
 
Kissing the pinky ring is a time-honored tradition.

The only one of the ring sequences I don't really like is the French one, which is a shame because I like playing France for the education bonus.

I like how the Dutch King taunts you with the ring like you're an abused puppy, while the Spanish king looks like he's going to break your nose with it instead.

I guess because he's a straight rip from Civ 4, the French king is the only one who doesn't really look evil, in my opinion. I hope someone makes a graphical mod to evil him up a bit.

Well, the point of the game IS to make you hate the king and want to have to deal with him anymore.

Louis (isn't it Louis the XIV btw when it should be Louis the XVI?) looks like an arrogant and bored/exasperated person. Sort of like *sigh* come on and kiss the ring, why must I always suffer fools and imbeciles around me, my time is very valuable you know so get on with it would you, don't you know I'm the king of France?
 
It was fun for the first time, but after that, it's just plain annoying... Even more when the king seems to raise your taxes every other turn and on every other it's time to "donate" money for... whatever reason the king is making up. The sound effect simply becomes annoying and FAST. We seriously need a new sound for the kiss effect :D

In fact, one my friends almost broke up with his new boyfriend because he - for some unknown reason - used to make those kind of sounds when kissing :D

And the animations, argh, I hate them as well. If you choose to kiss the ring, the spanish king looks like "what the hell, he actually kissed it o_o!!"
 
Judging by the comments here, I really need to start playing as a few other factions.. I've mostly been playing as Stuyvesant, whereas a few other games I decided to go with unrestricted leaders and chose Samuel de Champlain with the Dutch..

Time to go out and look at the other kings.. :D

Maybe. But for me it works quite differently - it makes me hate game...
Ok, may be it's so strong world, but it cause some discomfort. By the game, not by the king.
 
Yeah, sounds like a bit of an overreaction. It annoys me and it's a kind of embarrassing sound for a game to make, but it doesn't offend me.
