[NFP] Kublai Khan Discussion Thread

Not sure if I translated it correctly (correct if I was wrong), but are you talking about faith bonuses from the new district?
But he is not in the video, but +3 faith per turn is

I'm saying he may have an ability similar to the new Teddy, just only for faith. Basically, charming tiles are +1 faith, breathtaking are +2.

I thought Genghis Khan appearing younger than his grandson Kublai Khan is quite amusing. In a world where you have immortal leaders, I guess it is only a matter of time you'll run into a grandfather paradox.

Best thing of it is you can have the young Genghis Khan conquering the China of his old grandson Kublai Khan (or the other way around). Quite a familiar dispute!

Not only that but you can build the Great Wall to try to keep Grandpa Genghis out.

:nono: Shame on you, not only going away for your family Ordu and rejecting to send a proper cavalry along your traders, that you decide to hide behind brick walls and cannons, expecting to gather knowledge and culture...

I generally like the appeal management game, so I'm crossing my fingers that his ability will read:

Get a random Eureka and Inspiration from the current game era after establishing a trading post for the first time in another civilization's city.

+1 faith from tiles with charming appeal. This bonus is doubled in tiles with breathtaking appeal.

I'd be inclined to guess less a straight copy of earth goddess and the 'Xanadu' angle being more something like 'cities founded on high appeal tiles get +X faith' or '+1 faith per high appeal tile in the city territory'.

More uses of appeal mechanism are good, but I failed to see how they can be connect with the historical Kublai Khan. (Qianlong, the famous palace garden builder, might be a better fit.)

I'm still inclined that Kublai may have other bonuses around trade routes.

Are "pleasure domes" not appealing? :mischief:

But I agree I don't see appeal or faith bonuses for him. Maybe in that build he just got the Earth Goddess pantheon.

I'm no historian but maybe something linked to luxuries? Trade routes to a city give you a copy of that city's luxury resources?

That seems like a fair bonus. Doesn't make him too overpowered while also incentivizing Trade Routes more.

That would pair up nicely with the new game mode.

Where does 20 faith to the pantheon come from? From a tribal village? He did not find it, because before the caravan is sent, Kublai has 2 era points: +1 for meeting China, +1 for pantheon.
(But why hasn't he received yet for founding Ulaanbaatar near the floodplain?)

There is only one tile with charming prestige (with farm). And he would not have had time to accumulate 39 faith by the 28th turn (he already took the pantheon)

And this is interesting!

Calling back to civii's "Marco polo's embassy" maybe he'll get an embassy with any civ he has contact with. Not a major power, but flavorful.
That would give him more diplomatic visibility too right? That would be powerful for him leading Mongolia.

Maybe delegates or embassies don't disappear when you go to war and reduce grievances too.

What I rmb from Kublai Khan the most is he establish the special system for Yuan: 2 capital, one for Mongos area and one for the China area
To balance the Mongos and China regions, he decides to have 2 two capital and move from one to another every half year.
So I really expected to see sth related to this....
