Ha. In that game Monty tried to take down two other civs at once, then picked a fight with a third (me). Kind of a different situation. Though in the game where he overran France and then me, we'd managed to stop him for a time with some 2v1...but then, foolishly, I showed mercy. Then he came back with three move cannon and then artillery. Just plain nasty.

With all the strategies to deal with the Persian threat, going to flight ASAP is probably the only way to negate the movement advantage, while some Persian neighbour civs providing meat shield (sadly and unfortunately) to stall Persians growing too large. The only winner will be the techer who is on the fringe of the map far away from Persia.

I doubt this would even be enough if he conquers a significant chunk of the map.

They are marching together just for safe exploration. Our pikemen have already turned around, so we hope not to disturb anymore Ceasar's good attitude to the people of Songhai.

My holy pikeman is about to cross the east side of the world and talk to other mystics civs. Darius will be pleased at this moment and will agree to trade some surplus and sign research agreements to some friendly foreigners.
