Russian intelligence suspects the Egyptians, who have been muddling the water with us by multiple occasions in different dimensions :p They seemed to have had some cash reserved several turns ago but suddenly disappeared. Their alliance with Songhai also suggests both viewed Russia a potential threat. However we could be totally wrong and pissed off the Egyptians by this paranoid accusation.
Askia of Songhai is concerned about the fragile equilibrium among powerhouses of our shared continent. He doesn't want appearance of another runaway civ as it took place with Persia. However, Songhai did not give any assistance to Japan.

Askia's spymaster suspects that the russians also have been recieving foreign financial support, so if the Japanese get some financial help from another civ, it will be an even and fair fight :)

Sadly no one supported Russia financially and we can feel how lonely the Persians are in the early days.

What can we say? We tire of 'diplomacy'. We simply don't want our neighbour overrun, to be replaced by a bloated monster, who will surely feed on us next.

Monty has decided to reach out to the russian people. He feels that they have been treated unjustly and declares that if Catherine ever needs a friend, we will be there.

The obvious "teaming up" by the southwestern states is unfair and Monty will not sit on the sidelines. Egypt have found their strong friends in Songhai and Japan, we will find our with the russians!

Ha you nudged and winked about your plans to join forces ages ago. So we made a defensive pact as a counterweight. Now you use that to justify your actions.

Tired of diplomacy. We do our best to resist aggression. Unless of course our enlightened civ is the aggressor. And then we'll do our best to kill you quick. Everything else is BS. :smoke:

Carry on.

Those nudges and winks were made to force your hand. Nothing else. Now we see your true colours and we will not stand for it!

You sir, are a master manipulator.

We have no hope. You probably subtly influenced us to support Japan. What a good friend to Russia you are! :rotfl:

If you think I can control your free will then you truly are mad. How others can just stand by letting a madman rule an entire nation I will never understand.
History has shown us time and time again what happens when you let an insane person stay in office. Spoiler: It has never been a happy experience, for anyone.

I hope everything said is to the game itself. As for the 'diplomacy', it is only for the purpose of interaction or fun, but I must have said too much annoying things in the past several months, so it's time for me to go quiet now.

Ofcourse! You truly think I'd side with you if I take into consideration all the time I've been squished by you, and only you? If that were so I'd be in a perma war with you. Forever.

Don't worry, E. I mean don't be paranoid. :D

I was tired and a little grumpy last night. Although I'm good with words, I'm not a good liar. So, welcome to the new Onan. Strong, silent (ish) type. Mess with us, and we'll kill you. For example, the Aztec longswordsmen, catapult and archer headed for the city state between us...perhaps we'll help them resist that aggression.

Oh and if our empire can gain something relatively easily, we'll kill you then too. Honourable in defense, opportunistic in offence (though generally of a cooperative nature and quite interested in exploring that, little used side of the game).

Yep, it's about the game and having fun. But I'm short on time, so this is my new, global (over all games) policy.

Persia is a bit disgusted about Edinburgh's capture from Askia. Darius has reunited his advisors to see what kind of actions will be taken in the future. All cs on our continent are our friend. This is a transgression of our African continent. We also don't like how you put your foot on our land without a single word.

At least you are warned...:trouble:

PS, E, just wanted to be clear I'm using the general 'you' (meaning anyone / everyone), not the specific you. In other words, I'm not targeting you specifically.

This turn the city state of Edinburg became a victim of well prepared amphibious landing and subsequent assault carried out by Armed Forces of Kingdom of Songai. Askia remembers his heritage. He didn't forget warcraft of Songhai ancestors who were river pirates sailing along rivers and shallow waters in order to make unexpected and swift plundering raids on villages and coastal towns.

Askia wishes no harm to Persian Empire untill Darius remains peaceful to other human controlled civilizations.
The independent city of Edinburg was situated between the borders of Persia and Songhai. It was not a part or ally of Persia. So Songhai did have the same rights to own the city as Persia did. But Askia was first to grab the CS :p

I'm ok, no worries. Now in addition to 'paranoid', I must have another adjective tagged to me  but I do need to stay low for now, nearly 1000 posts since Jan were not something I usually do (I was a big lurker before that), and I've got a lot fun from the story telling + mocking + joking etc. It's totally worth the time and energy to type all those posts if ask me again. Now I could enjoy a little old habit of lurking others to have fun and awaiting for November to come.:eekdance:

Songhai brothers, we have sent our payment for the slave, and await his incorporation into the Egyptian Empire. We forgot to say, please cross the river.

OK. The agreement will be accomplished on my turn.

I am glad that you have reminded me about it, or I may have forgotten :)

By the way, Songhai has completed construction of Forbidden Palace! Now we have so many happy citizens which Songhai has never had

Ceasar is saddened to see the north of the world in such barbaric turmoil ... The fall of Tokyo is but the herald of greater suffering to come. He has fled the fabled city of Rome, as it is expected to fall next turn to the Chinese horde from the West. Free Romans will always resist this aggression, no matter how long it takes or how precarious our position may be ...

Askia of Songhai wants to remind that his nation are selling slaves (workers) for 50 g each to any neighbouring civ. Moreover Askia is interested in selling one of Songhai luxury resources for 4 gpt per turn due to too large happiness in his country.

It seems that soon two civs, Rome and Japan, will become victims of invaders and memory about them will remain only on pages of history books.
