Lack of interface background

I've already checked the bug directory and the search function on the forum, in addition to installing 3.13 just in case, but none of these have turned up any results so correct me if I am wrong on that.

Well anyway the basis of this glitch can be explained with a screenshot, so here's one:

As you can see it completely lacks the background to the interface, meaning I have to struggle to read the damn thing, and it is just like that in game, including certain buttons being invisible as well (end turn button, the science, culture and espionage sliders etc..) and generally makes managing a city or trading with someone a pain in the ass.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

First off: stop insulting people from whom you want help - that will bring you farther - if you want results within two days pay people to do so.
Now it seems as if the game has problems with some arts files it wants to open.
What version do you play (retail, download). I understand this has been present prior to patching, right? You did start a new game after patching, is his correct?
Open your civlizationIV.ini and set everything that has log in its name to 1, restart the game, if it has the interface problem exit the game and post a zip with the contents of your logs directory here, maybe one can find the reason in there.

Well apparently it hasn't worked so far but at least we're getting somewhere now, thanks.

EDIT: Just to note, the original version of civ4 I got was a download version, but the BtS expansion I installed was a retail disk, if that helps at all.

the logs file does not contain any errors that I don't have either - and my game works fine. I forgot one thing:
please set
HidePythonExceptions to 0 and make sure that all of the following are set to 1 (I still assume that there is a python error somewhere but it does not show up in the log):
; Enable the logging system

LoggingEnabled = 1



; Enable synchronization logging

SynchLog = 1



; Overwrite old network and message logs

OverwriteLogs = 1



; Enable rand event logging

RandLog = 1



; Enable message logging

MessageLog = 1

Also I have seen quite a few problems on this forum with the downloaded version of Civ4 and the subsequent installation of the expansions, so there might be a problem there, it might be worthwhile to contact direct2drive or steam to ask them about a solution...
