Lag on Windows 7

Before you ask, yes, I have searched the Internet for at least an hour trying to find a solution to this. Nothing has worked.

I installed Civ3, PTW and C3C on my Windows 7 because my XP computer died. I started a game, and the game was lagging so much it was impossible to play. It only uses about 115K memory, while other games like Starcraft II can run fine using nearly a million memory.

I have no idea why this happens. Please help, I want to play my C3C.

Sorry for the double post, but I just sort of half-resolved the issue myself, and I figured I may as well tell you because it's hilarious.

I connected my old HDD (that previously ran Windows XP) to my newer PC, then tried to run C3C from the old HDD. C3C had been installed on the XP PC, but it was still on the HDD so I figured, why not give it a go.

No lag whatsoever, it works fine now. Why, I have no idea, but the problem fixed itself, so I'm happy.
