LAN-game very slow..

I've just started toying with LAN games (PTW v1.27f) on my home network.
We have the problem that the units, games, battles, etc. are responding very slow to orders.

For example: when I give a unit an order to move 1 square I have to wait more than a second for the actual movement.
Same thing for entering cities and selecting the build queue.

This is all on a 100mbit LAN, there is almost no delay and no interfering firewalls.
I've already tried going offline, having no connection. The only difference is that the connection to GameSpy fails and I can only host local games (this is what I want anyway), but the delay is still the same.
In single player games there is no such delay.

Both PC's are fast enough (XP1900+ and P4-2.6) and should handle the load well enough.

Does anyone know what's happening?
And can I completely remove GameSpy? It makes little sense, since I'm only interested in local games..
 
I don't have the problem with the unpatched PTW (1.01f).
Just with the latest patches, I have tried 1.21f and 1.27f.

The game is playable with 1.01f, but has all the known bugs, and i'd still like to be able to play fine.

Any suggestions?
 
Kwark, just so you know, it's not just you. I play LAN games with a simliar setup that you described and we get the lag as well. It's a pain in the *ss, but still playable. I'm patched to 1.27 as well.
 
I have the same problem as both of you guys, and an additional one, I can get more than 2 people hooked up at one time on a consistant basis.
My two roomates and I like to play but we always have to attempt to connect 5+ times before we are all conected and can play
Has anyone else had this problem?
 
It's annoying. I'm waiting for a good MP-game with Civ in LAN but with the lag it is impossible.

And the missing info-menues are crap too.
