Hi all.

I've bought the game in Italy, so I've the Italian version (the cover is written in italian, so the manual, etc.).
I've installed it choosing the italian language, without any problem and the game seems to work properly, but in the language option there is only the english one (there are no other avalaible languages).

So it works only with written and spoken english.

I am the only one to have this problem? Some advice to solve?

(by the way: where is the damned languages folder?!?)

Thank you in advance

I have the same problem here. I bought the German version, the cover of the game all was in German language. But the game is in English.

I saw that one can change the language in the game, but there is just one language to choose. Just english. But I want to play the game in my homelanguage

Did anoyne of you order the game from amazon.co.uk?

Pingpong, you might want to read this here.

Short version for CBPE:
In My Documents\MyGames\SM Civilization5\config.ini, there are some entries like this:
PHP:
; The currently selected steam language
SteamLanguage = english

; The currently selected language.
Language = en_US

; The currently selected spoken language.
AudioLanguage = en_US

try to change them.

Very strange...

I've done a little update by Steam and then the language was automatically set on Italian.

BUT,
now the only language avalaible is Italian... English is no longer instead!

Setting by:

; The currently selected language.
Language = en_US

; The currently selected spoken language.
AudioLanguage = en_US

as you suggest, it return to english, but anyway, it seems there's something that doesn't work correctly..... does it?

To swap languages in Civ V, you will want to switch it on the Steam Client. Right-click the Civ V application from the game list in Steam, select Properties, and the Languages.

You can set it from here.

Ah ok!
I'd never thought that it could work in this way, thank you!
It's a little uncomfortable for me 'cause I switch often between the two languages (italian when there is a new version of Civ and I need to understand deeply the new mechanisms- english to play posted games, take screenshots to post, etc.) but it's ok, no problem.

@ The_J: I've bought the game in an italian shop and it's multilanguage, thank you :)

I did set my language (french) under Steam but I have the same issue. The only avaliable options are English. IIRC (since I'm not posting from home), config.ini shows fr_FR as selected language but both dropdown menus still propose English. I own a boxed version, bought in a French store.

No big deal though since I've played Civ in english for ages, but still a potential issue for those who can't. IMHO the options menu should indicate in a tooltip that additional languages can be setup under Steam.
