Laptop can't turn on

i was playing civ on my laptop when it suddenly turned off, then i could not turn it back on, i know it wasn't a battery problem, because it was plugged into the wall, i tried multiple outlets, it still didn't turn on, so i was wondering if anyone could help me and tell me what you think is wrong.

So basically my laptop won't start

Did it overheat?

Does it respond at all when you try to turn it on? Any hardrive sounds? fans? anything?

if i hold down the on button the fan will go but when i take my hand off the fan stops
