Leader Screen all black

Hi, I've got a strange issue where the leader screens of some civs (i've only noticed it with Washington and Harun Al-Rashid so far) turn almost all black with only the diplomacy buttons (and sometimes a few small things, like Washington's big candle thing in the top right) visible.

The issue only appeared today and I haven't made any changes in the options or to my pc that I know of. I tried restarting Steam, restarting my pc, trying a few different game types, but nothing seems to fix it.

Anyone else had this problem? Thanks for any help.

Did you try to turn the graphical settings for the leaders down? Would be good to know, if at least the static images work.

I have 3 options in my setup. The first is static, no movement. The second, I finally tried and there is "some" movement. I found out that DirectX9 does allow "animated" characters. The third option is the black screen with only the options visable. At least the game does not crash any more. So now I am not sure what causes Random black screen crashes, unless those people are not running a "patched" game.

Thanks for the replies. I tried changing my leader screen quality to medium, then low, then minimum. But unfortunately none of them worked. Actually, on minimum, all I got was a white screen saying, "I am a place holder. Report this as a bug." Or something like that.

So I just reinstalled the game and it's all back to normal. Leader screen working perfectly on the highest setting. Bit of a weird bug, just hope it doesn't happen again.
