Sure, it may not be the starry night sky that most CivFanatics like, and it may not be the big, grand leaderscreen that some other leaders have, but this leaderscreen is still one of the best. Everything in this leaderscreen just fits with everything else, from the colours, to the aesthetic, the music, the composition, the layers - everything just comes together so beautifully to create a delightfully charming leaderscreen which perfectly represents the Portugal Civ. It's not the shiniest Civ, nor is it the grandest, most overpowered, but all of it's elements just come together so smoothly, so seamlessly, and it creates a delightful Civ to play as. Truly, this is a leaderscreen which accurately represents the Civ it is attached to.

GAJAH MADA
An empty, foggy field, with some trees. Oh, and part of a building in the corner of the background. Wheeeee? It's like Napoleons, but with more leaves, more gloom, and no horse. Though, it would be funny to see Gajah on a horse.

You'd think that this far after Vanilla they'd have done away with the leaderscreens of leaders standing around in the middle of fields. It's like a combination of Oda's emptiness, and Napoleon's haziness. It's dark, and quite bland compared to the rest of the leaderscreens still up. Hopefully, Gajah Mada, the last entrant into the empty field club of leaders.

Everything Talcove said against Gajah Mada can be applied to Boudicca as well. At least Gajah Madah's screen keeps me interested while being approved by the Indonesians in the neighboring thread.

Yeah, it can be applied to Boudica, and it will be once Gajah is gone. ;)

Askia - 18
Enrico Dandolo - 20 (Venice at night looks cool, but I always fail to be impressed by Enrico himself for some reason. Maybe his dull brown clothes (which I know are accurate-looking, but that doesn't help), or the fact that he's just standing there outside in the middle of the night.)

Haile Selassie - 2 - The screen is alright, but pretty bland compared to, say, nighttime in Venice or the mystical rice paddies of Indonesia. Doesn't help that it's Haile Selassie's screen; I always end up crossing swords with him at some point in our games.
Pachacuti - 23
Gajah Mada - 21 - Speaking of those rice paddies... I love the calm, mysterious atmosphere of this screen. Gajah Mada himself is imposing, and although I don't personally speak any Nusantaran languages, the fact that he speaks Old Javanese is pretty impressive, and it certainly shows a step up from Ramesses II's Arabic from vanilla.

I downvoted Ashubanipal because he has quite a large lead, and is (in my opinion) not even a Top 5 screen. Since there are no real rules or even guidelines about how rationale for a downvote *should* work, I'm going with the "keeping a good-but-not-great screen in check" logic.

Harold and Gajah seem to have enough supporters to stay in the teens for a while, so I'm upvoting Askia again. (Since I'm sure other people who like-but-don't-love Askia are counting on people like me to carry Askia, I'm putting my support here.)

As an exercise in fairness, I went on Youtube and watched all the leaderscreens of the remaining civs again to remind me what, exactly, I am voting on. I noticed that I like screens with unique color palettes, outdoor scenes with a good feel of the place the represent, and dynamic leaderscreens.

If anyone cares, here's how I rate what's left (remembering that I've already lost some favorites...)

Great
Shaka - background land features, architecture, elephant skulls, great voice actor
Pacal - one of the best backgrounds, nice architectural detail, great laugh at DOW
Askia - gorgeous background (colors especially), good voice, great DOW animation

Very Good
Enrico - Superb background, great voice actor, otherwise not a lot of features
Pachacuti - Great background, unique angle, but not a lot else going on here
Maria - Great background and fantastic lighting fore- and back-, but rather static
Harold - unique setting of boat, but weird place to meet a leader, no background, good and interesting animation
Gajah - a bit plain, but Candi in this fog with rice paddy seems place appropriate; really good (best?) leader animation
Boudicca - Background is good (very Scotland!), animation good, voice terrible
Theodora - great background, great foreground, subtle but strong movement (especially DOW) - If she wins, I hope it isn't for her boobs.

Good
Dido - lighting and setting are nice, but nothing very specific, and her movements are ridiculously large
Ashurbanipal - the best of the palace screens, not much movement
William - best of the office screens, nice (if simple) movement, good voice, no extra wow

"How did this make it this far?"
Haile - I like African civs, but this one is in a plain setting (no Ethiopia!), and fairly static

Maria's screen is the only one left I don't really like. The animation is good, but the background isn't that great, the ships look bad, and apparently the building behind her in anachronistic. It's an ok screen, but all the other ones are better at this point.

Upvoting Shaka, again, as he's the one with the least votes among my top 5. Great voice, great attitude, good background, very appropriately menacing.

+1 to Dandy. Venice is very beautiful at night, and Dandy also looks cool. His clothes aren't dull - they're, in my opinion, awesome. They look very warm. I also like his sinister yet grandfatherly face.

-3 to Dido. I don't understand why she's so high up. There's nothing really interesting about her leaderscreen. Her screen is very good and it's not the worst of those left, but I've downvoted the worse ones already, so I'm going to -3 her for a change.

Also I'm very pleased to see Askia rather stable at 19 points, but it's a shame Maria has only 17 now.

We're down to the best of the best. But IMO William of the Netherlands is by far the weakest screen left and should be the next to go. I never liked room leaderscreens and his is exactly that.
All the remaining ones mix nature and architecture beautifully. Not William.

And for Askia, just had to get him up back to 20. That fire is too unique for him not to be a top 10 finish at minimum

-3 For Shaka because it's so bland.

Im giving one more point to Harald, mainly because of being unique and having a very nice contrast. First time you encounter him he is very energetic and friendly, you can almost imagine the scene: "we are jus traders care to point us to the nearest port friend?", next time he comes back you get near the boat and he is just standing there, looking at you with his helmet on.."oh shi.." contrast is what makes it interesting.

Theodora gets the hammer now, I think this scene worked much better as concept art than it did animated, because having her on the couch doesnt really give you a lot to work from, she is just static, and her movements range from glamourous lazy to pouty face, yeah that gets old fast.

Boudicca - 9-3=6 I guess the hillfort is historically accurate, it's too hilly for the region in which Boudicca's tribe lived (Iceni), some of her lines are silly or make no sense in Welsh (the "Byd" Siwr! and the request "let's unite our armies together...:p), her outfit is probably the least accurate or most imaginative
