Learning Immortal - comments welcome

Silver, I finished your game this morning. I didn't go after the apostolic vote thing because I've always thought of it as a bit too cheesy, so I stuck with the space race.

Anyhow, I was racing through it to sort of hurry up, as I have other things to do, but because of this I ended up botching up things very bad. In fact, I ended up launching without all casings because I ended up cutting it THAT CLOSE after my botch-ups.

I learned a very good lesson here.. DO NOT speed through a game. Slow down, and add more continues for a later time if need be instead of going in as few stretches as possible.

I'll post my results after my other immortal write-up is completed. And then I have Rolo's game I am also thinking on playing as well. Grrrrrr.

Thanks Obsolete. Can you post some saves please so I can compare the stategies? I am especially interested in the opening, as I feel this is my weakest part.

Regarding AP victory, I agree it's cheesy. I only went for it because I am lazy, and because I never had a religious victory and I wanted to try something new, and also because I knew was in a winning position anyway - better tech and production than anyone with mining inc and (+13 production per city) and many wonders, no risk of an AI cultural victory (only 2 religions on the other continent), and some spare GPs for golden ages.

Actually, Justinian tried to pull off a cultural victory on me. I lost a lot of spies too trying to get him out of free-speech. Eventually though, I got him to switch out and he stayed out, but I still got one of my culture rich cities actually swamped really bad by his pouring culture. I even ended up garrisoning a city heavily to prevent it from flipping to him. Yup, his culture was THAT strong. Eventually, I started to re-win the culture battle at the end of the game. And this was from a city that had the hermitage even to combat him!

Of course, I could have gone to war against him too, but I felt I was still doing fine without so. We were sharing religions etc, so I didn't see a need.

Well done on your win. Unfortunately I haven't had time to play this game after the first couple of turns. I'm still up to 3100BC so haven't read any of your spoilers but definitely want to play this one out.

As I said I usually play Emp so its a big step for me as well and it will be interesting to see how our games compare.

Good luck in your next one.
