Legendary Earth Mod (LEM)

Unfortunately, adding Korea at this point would mean having to remove another civ because of the cap on the number civs allowed on the map, which cannot be altered without DLL access. Will update for stone and other minor tweaks though.

I'm sorry if this is stated earlier in the thread, but after a quick search I haven't been able to confirm.

is this mod compatible with Vanilla Enhanced Mod (VEM, formerly TBC)?

I also run the following mods and I'm curious if they are what's causing my crash on loading savegames (Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error, or something like it)

civwillard (v1)
infoacddict (v16)
native wonders (v18)
modified timescale mod (v1)
RED modpack (v11)
VEM (v. 10.5)

i also have all DLC content installed and usually like to play with City State Diplomacy mod (v.25 is current), but i don't mind turning that off on huge maps.

i have a pretty strong laptop running this game, so i'm not sure what's causing the problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I've attached a savegame.

EDIT: i found the culprit: VEM 10.5 has savegame/reload issues. Playing with 10.4 right now with all the above mods and it's been working just fine.

side note: best. world. map. ever.

Glad you fixed it on your own, and thanks for the compliment. :)

As an update to where the map is headed, for whatever reason ModBuddy and I are suddenly not getting along. Could be pilot error, but I tried to add back Seoul as a city state since now Kathmandu occupies the Korean peninsula, but no dice, my changes aren't showing up. Still trying to work through it...

I'd like to give some feedback about the map:

1) Why is Paris located at the ocean? It doent belong there, its like 150 miles away. As its the capital, its location seems somewhat important to me.

2) Why is Amsterdam at the very center on northern Germany, where one of that countrys most important citys should be (Hamburg)? Wouldnt it be good to place it where it belongs? Not only is this placement strange for Amsterdam, it also blocks Germany. Its basicaly impossible to build the german nation, just because that dutch city is placed wrong.

3) Why is Berlin located in Poland, and at the sea? Berlin is the capital of Germany and should be placed in Germany. And Berlin is hundreds of miles away from the coast, its no coastal city. If you add to that the Amsterdam problem, you'll see that Germany is basicaly unable to construct even a single city within its 'real' territory. Just erase the nation if you hate it, but dont throw it to some random location.

4) Your Europe is so crowded, that the german unique ability is totaly worthless because there are no camps. Wouldnt you agree that Germany doesnt fit into 'your' Europe?

5) It seems that France can never found a city at the mediteranian, due to Rome and Madrid. But the french had quite an impressive influence there. In fact, theres And while I'm at it: these hills you placed in northern France dont exist. But there are quite some relevant hills and mountains in the center of France, where you didnt place any.

I like your Map and I appreciate all the work you put into it, but your Europe is just a total mess, sorry to say. Please fix these terribel flaws and make this the best earthmap for civ5!

first select mods in the main-menu, than single-player, than load game...

if u load the game without go over mods, the c++ runtime crashes

just looked the map in the world builder -> europe is toooooooooo little, make it bigger!

This map has gone through many iterations and I have consistently tweaked and change Europe to work from a gameplay perspective, just go back through the pages and you will see. The biggest issue is that there is a minimum tile distance of 3 between cities, which makes Europe iffy to tackle historically. I have found consistently that if Germany and France don't start with coastal capitals then they never found a coastal city, leading to England dominating the seas without contest.

Bear in mind that my first concern is gameplay, not exact historical accuracy...attempt at exact historical accuracy generally makes the map not very fun.

I thank you for your commentary, the map is constantly being updated and tweaked and I will consider your opinions on the next major update (which won't come until the DLL is released and we can have 22+ civs on a map).

Bad news for me, but thanks for explaining why these inaccuracies exist. At least I can forget about this map then and stop reading the thread, because I know they'll never be fixed.

By all means, go ahead and make your own Earth map and these issues will trouble you no more.

You're being a total prick.

Thanks for this map Dark_Jedi06 and I look forward to future updates.:)

Well the first post says:
"Playable Civilizations
The following is the list of playable civilizations, each one beginning in their accurate start location"

Sorry to say, but thats not true at all. Just change it to 'somewhere on the same continent' and its fine.

I explained my reasoning to you, which clearly wasn't a satisfactory answer. So please stop badgering my thread. Like I said, if you so desperately want a perfect Earth map then go make your own.

Jedi all I did was to answer to the flameposts against me. The matter was over from my point of view until Aleenik and Chong dircted posts at me.

Ah, that's too bad about the cap. Looking forward to stone though.

Greetings. I am eager to play this mod, but I'm very confused. I am attempting to begin a game, but when I do, the civilizations appear in inappropriate locations. I have attempted to play as the Incans each time, and each time I have appeared in different, weird places. India, Alaska, Europe...

I have done the following:

Mods-> accept -> browse -> LEM is checked. it is v11

back->
At this point I am in the MODS menu, with the options single player and browse mods
single player -> set up game -> advanced setup ->

i then change map type to Legendary Earth (DLC)

I have Incas, Spain, and Polynesians.

Difficulty -> prince
game pace -> Epic

my civilization is selected as Incan

i then press START GAME

I have not seen any "Load scenario" button as described in the read me, so I'm not sure what to do about that.

Please help? And advice. Am I just missing something?

Thanks.

Edit:

I found a work around. I originally downloaded and installed the mod manually. I decided to delete the mod and search for LEM via the in-game browser. There, I re-installed the mod, and now it appears to be functioning correctly. I hope this helps anyone else who happens across this issue.

Also, the "Load Scenario" is a check box found on the first page after you click Set Up Game. It is a radio button/checkbox.

Hello everyone!

After a long hiatus from the game, the announcement of God's and Kings has got me back to playing Civilization V and I'm very excited for the expansions release. :) I apologize that the map has not been updated in quite some time, but once the expansion is out with all of its new goodies, LEM will be getting some serious revamping that I'm very excited for!

Hopefully DLL access will coincide with the release so that we can get more civs on the map at once. In addition, new resources, city-state types and things like religion and espionage will require quite a bit of balancing. It'll be my first priority after release once I familiarize myself with all the new features.

As we move towards G&K's release, I welcome any and all suggestions for the map as we learn more about the game's features.

:D

Does this mod alter any of the XML files at all? Altering City State names isn't as hard. I'm only wondering because I wanna be able to get remainder of my achievements, and scenarios with no modifications still permit that.
