Let's do something together: Create a mod to celebrate Civ IV (Humor)

We could have a great wonder called Civ5.
Build it and your civ gets culture, gold, and a chance to get a greal leader (Sid). All other civs with computers will loose production (because everyone's playing the game). If you get the great leader Sid, he can be used to create Civ5 updates that increase your culture and gold even more.
We can subtitle the Civ5 wonder, A License to Print Money.

Zimbabwe
Leader: Robert Mugabe (preferred Civics are Kleptocracy and State Property).

UU: Militias. Excellent pillagers, only problem is they are no good outside their own borders, but are brilliant at destroying the roads, towns and farmland of their own cities.

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.

OH MAN! Brilliant!!!

religion: hare krishna: your citizen stop producing immediately once converted, make no money, and all the time you would hear some strange singing in the background, so what would be the point of it

I'm going to organize everything posted so far and post it tonight.

For religions so far I have: Jedi (will replace Taoism due to the cool symbol being appropriate if nobody objects), Hare Krishna, and "Cult of Sid" (could use better name)

I'll also organize the civs and post a spreadsheet so you can organize your civ to post.

I'll take care of the Swiss entirely, I have it organized fairly well already.
EDIT-------

Existing Civs so far:
Civfanatica
Switzerland
Canada
Pythonia (name ok?)

EDIT-------
For the civfanatica city list: I'll put the capital of each civilization as successive cities after the capital (Civfanatica) in order that they are listed in the Civ III editor. If nobody objects, either that or we should come up with an *alternative* city list which I will update as cities are submitted:

Alternative City List As it Stands:

Civfanatica
Boodleburg*

*If we go with the capital city plan, or there are enough cities I will expand Boodleburg into a custom civ for the mod.

Wonder, either Small or Great: Stargate Program

Allows you to rush the spaceship production, get several Future Techs free as well as two techs on the regular tree, two free Great Scientists.

If any1 needs a "CG artist" - 3d models, 2d, video or whatever let me know.
I would just love to contribute to this game. But i will only help out if a final plan is made, when we all have agreed to do a single mod.

Mail me at deus14@hotmail.com

My website is on the way, so you really can't see my work. Search (google) for "Inflate Escape" if you want to see my biggest, latest work.

How about:

Free People of Earth: Brazilian, South American based modernized empire who has as it's chief goal manipulating the world to a diplomatic win by plebiscite.

Leader: Peter Wiggin, Brilliant, Diplomatic, Arrogant, Tempered

Mother India: Indian Modern Empire; goal is to conquer China, Muslim world, unite all under worship of godship.

Leader: Verlomi, a self-styled demi-god; brilliant, inspires troops in battle; over confident

Banko US: Stack Driven United States. End goal is to conquer the world through economic rule as well as Research and Development Superiority. Stack domination.

Leader: Miles Bancroft. A "Meth", views intelligence, monetary power & court influence as having the most importance in a global government.

...someone would choose 'Oz'

Leader: Great and Powerful Oz

Special units:
Winged monkeys
Glinda the Good (good witch)
Wicked Witch of the West (susceptible to water attacks)

Wonder:
Yellow brick road
Poppy field - good trap since units go in but don't come out

Capital:
Emerald City

Special Weapon:
Tornado (+2 dust +5 devastation +0 reputation since it can be blamed as a natural disaster unless FEMA doesn't respond in time which results in a -4)

Floating bubble (+0 on all stats except it looks pretty and distracts your citizens to the sound of OOOOOOH)

Ruby Slippers (toggles everything from B/W to color)

How about the mafia as a civ? They'd have the hitman replace the missionary as their UU, which would have the added bonus of being able to perform assasination missions, theft, and other generalized crimes too numerous to mention. They would also have added bonuses to diplomacy (coersion, bribery, gun to head, ect.) and to economics (casinos?, drug deals?). However, they would suffer from huge crime rates, but never suffer unhappiness due to the fact that they'd be too afraid to upset their leader. Also, they couldn't select police state as a civics option (seems fairly obvious).

Also, having Firaxis studios as a Great Wonder. It would increase happiness within your empire so high that no one would ever be unhappy. It would make all the other civilizations envious of you and make diplomacy much easier (or not). On the downside, it would cut productivity of all your cities by half, and would require 10 or more sources of coffee beans for upkeep.

Easter Island

Map: One grassland square totally surrounded by impassable ocean in every direction. No bonus/luxury resources of any kind.

Has own unique language and culture. No need to build military units except to keep own population under control.

Religion: Construction and worship of giant stone heads.

Optional UU: Six foot tall, egg-laying, stealthy, one Sunday a year candy delivering bunny!

the CFC needs a Stick Man unit called Perfection.
And a great Engineer needs to be named Varwanos(sp?)
What else...:hmm:

The city list should include all of the forums:
General Discusion
Ideas and Sugestions
Strategy and Tips
Creation and Customization
Hall of Fame Discusion
Technical Support
Game of the Month
Off Topic
World History
Site Feed Back
and any other forums you wanted to add.

Also I want our words are backed with Nuclear Wepons. To be replaced with "I am M.A.D. Good bye"

Here would be a great animal unit:

The Guinea Pig! Just imagine it. It runs into your town, biting citizens, which, in turn, gets the citizen so sick that he'll likely die. He spreads this disease to many fellow citizens, who, then die from disease also (to be very reminiscent of the Sims, which I've never played. Got the idea from wiki). Animals, such as mice, which you never see, create a worldwide pandemic off of one bite, causing everyone in the game to suffer from this terrible disease. To cure it, hire an artist to make a guinea pig museum within your city, so that your citizens may be cured by attending regularly.

The Confederate States of America!

Leader: Jefferson Davis
Capital: Richmond
UU:
Confederate Rifleman
Attack 2
Defense 5
Movement 1
Cost 5 Hammers

The South

Leader: I know that Jefferson Davis is the easy defaut for a Southern leader, but how about one of the secessionists instead of an inept leader of a bankrupt government? I say John C. Calhoun, philispohical (as there is no doubt he was an influencial and genius statesman, much like Scalia you might not agree with his views but its hard to disagree with his logic) and industrious (I realize that the South wasn't really industious at the time, but if you look at the actual benefit of wonder production then the promotion of a state's right to slave labor seems most appropriate). He would favor nationhood civic.

Argument for spiritual, but that is more targeted to the Bible Belt civilization and not the individual leader.

UU: The Confederate Submarine. Should come along earlier than most other submarines, probably the same time as the ironclads and have the same stealth and attack capabilites of a normal submarine. Advantage of the unique unit is not in its base stats, but in the earlier spot on the tech tree.

Alternate UU: Johnny Reb. Is a unit that arises in any age as the highest tech defensive unit (spearmen, musketman, rifleman) who functions much like partisans in Civ 2, in that they pop up after an invasion. However, it would only occur after an invasion by a former ally...say a certain diplomacy ranking during the prior 10 or 15 turns. This would be a fairly accurate representation of the patriotic Southern soldier, who did not fight for slavery but against an invading army. Cost is free, but can not be built and occur at random roll of die (like global warming, but with better odds) and is affected by level of culture and happiness in the conquered city and units may continue to appear from the time of conquer until peace is declared. Is not available until the discovery of Civil Service.

Capital City: Atlanta, not the actual capital at the time of the war. However, there is no doubt that it is the capital of the New South and as we are looking at a civilization as a whole we should look at the entire history of the Civilization not just four years (hence the inclusion of Calhoun as the leader). In addition, this would help with the problem of the South only building Richmond and America having 4 or 5 cities including "Atlanta" and then wanting to build other citeis and Atlanta not being a choice.

Other Cities: Richmond, Charleston, New Orleans, Savannah, Nashville, Birmingham, Jackson, Memphis (will probably be gone by the time you get to it b/c of Egyptians), Chattanooga, Willaimsburg and St. Augustine (very Old South), Charlotte and Arlington (representing the New South).

Great People, assuming like in Civ III
Great Artist: Faulkner
Great Merchantman: Ted Turner
Great Engineer: Mike Brown...just kidding. How about Andrew Jackson for the barricades in New Orleans "during" the War of 1812. Sorry I'm not an expert on great engineers.
Great Prophet: Martin Luther King, Jr. Could also be an alternate leader to Calhoun who is spiritual and expansive and favors universal suffrage. This could help take the edge off of those who would falsely percieve a Southern civilization as predominantly racist (or at least any more racist than others). It would also be a giant step over the other alternate leaders which seem more or less to represent the same ideals perceptions on a civilizations culture.

Colors: Red, secondary Gray.

Flag: Anything other than the Confederate Battle Flag doesn't seem very depective...but definently open to nonconfrontational alternatives, especailly with MLK as alternate who I can't see carrying a Confederate Battle Flag.

Culture group (I assume there is a visual difference in how units and improvements appear on the map): Mixed or Euro and African in appearance of units, but Euro in improvements and early settlements.

Okay so after writing all this I guess I am doing more than commenting and would love to actually create this civilization. Unfortunately, I know absolutely nothing about computers and this is the only game I've really played since I was 13 years old when I got my first Civ I for my Dad's Mac. Anyone interested in helping me to create this civilization for real in the modding stuff, or want to give me some hints on how this can easily be done??? Thanks for reading this far.

 The UU should be a "Peacekeeper".

If you're doing Canada, give 'em Mounties!

My choice, if I were to add a Civ, would be the Vikings

Led by: Eric the Red, Leif Erickson

Style: Seafaring, Militaristic

UU: Under Eric: Bezerker
UU under Leif: Longship

Civ: The Buffalo Bills
Civics: QB controversy (causes unhappiness and lack of production because a decision can't be made)
Leader: Ralph Wilson
Style: Confused, Wasteful of potential
UU: The 12th man (Worker with Missionary abilities and works at a rate depending on your power ranking. The more powerful, the faster the worker works)
Alternate UU: Buffalo Jills (replaces Cannadian Mounties)
Religion: Defense
Unique Technology: Used to Winter. Causes the new resource "Winter Coats" to appear on all snow-covered territory. "Winter Coats" is a bonus resource giving +3 hammers, +1 Food, and +5 commerce during the winter months (October-June).

Yeah, the Vikings are the best. I couldn't believe it when I played my first game of Complete and niether Eric the Red nor Leif Ericson was the leader.
Can you believe there are no Scandinavian civs in 4?
