Let's Go...Dutch?!?!

Im confused, is it Elizabeth or the spy who declared war?

Elizabeth.

In the real game, there was no spy, but I just used him as an explanation, because I was very very confused as SHE declared war on ME, when I was going to declare war on her a few turns later.

Nice story!

RFC dynamics, I guess. England backstabbed the Dutch quite a few times IRL.

Actually, I found it beneficial, as I blockaded her harbor to get troops out of London.

Galleons lose to Indiamen!:D:D

subbed as well. You should let the United Kingdom live on in Ireland:D.

Let's see how this turns out in the future... I see some future conquests in America and in Africa, later on. :D

That't what I did once in an 18 civs game  They were left with just Ireland and Iceland. I did find a use for them though; once they capitulated, I gave them Astronomy and Chemistry, and they trolled the Germans and Russians with Frigates :lol::lol:

You are awesome, Mbkkbm! Taking over Europe with the Dutch is so damn

Why thank you.

In recognition of the compliment, there shall be an update soon!:D:D

Sorry, had to get caught up with the story here. Great job. Does Monty always vassalize to the first person he meets?

in my experience, as long as they don't try to kill him, yes.

Not always. Sometimes the AI comes late, and by then Monty manages to get a decent defence. And if Monty manages to get his hands on a couple of uber promoted longbows/crossbows[mercenaries], it's unlike the AI will get him.

UPDATE!

HISTORY OF THE WORLD: THE NETHERLANDS

King John III declared war on Spain in a unique way. After the seeing the remnants of the Spanish army, he knew there was only one way to prevent the Netherlands from being attacked by the Russians in the east and the Spanish in the west; he must kill one of them.

Queen Isabella XIV gave him the excuse he needed by refusing marriage to one of the noblemen’s sons. The bloodthirsty nobles led the way into war in 1620. After five years of attacking and hunting down the queen, she was supposed to be in Barcelona reviewing her attack force. When the city was taken, and Isabella wasn’t there, the city was razed in order to infuriate her. Madrid was taken 15 years later by the modern “Cuirassier” force, which was French for “scary guys on horses”. Madrid was captured and spared as Isabella allowed herself to be wed. Unfortunately, she kept a knife in her gown, so when the priest said “You may kiss the bride”, she stabbed he would-be husband. This event, known as the “Red Wedding” continued the war.

Progress was also made on the war front, with the Capture and Razing of Valencia in 1655. All noble ladies were stabbed as result of Isabella’s foolish decision. Henry Hudson returned to Dutch lands in 1665, where he got to meet the Prince-Elect Henry III, who was only a young boy. Henry (Hudson, of course) was given a much larger ship and ordered to help revolutionize the navy.

By 1670, La Coruna was captured and razed. One odd quirk of history was, when the city was being razed, bottles of beer were found and sent back to Amsterdam. After discovering how to make it, La Coruna beer became extremely popular with the commoners who couldn’t afford wine. That year, one of Spain’s most promising generals, El Cid, fled to London after his request to marry Queen Isabella was denied. She said she was “married to her faith” as the heartbroken El Cid fled to London to establish a War Academy to train officers to fight in Spain. Needless to say, the Spanish Empire collapsed under this strain.

The Dutch Revolution occurred in 1675, as the King was kicked out of office by the Council. After Civil War threatened for a year, he was allowed to still hold power, but it would be greatly reduces and he would have to ask Parliament on many things. One of the Council’s first acts was Freedom of Speech, which was passed in the still-standing record of two weeks and three days.

In 1700, with the turn of the 18th Century, it was revealed the Netherlands had over 10 million people. A national day of celebration was declared, which was only slightly dampened by the Roman Palace assigning Madrid to Portugal.

This was obviously the beginning of a Dutch Gilded Age, which the Dutch became the wealthiest country known at that time. The Dutch entered the Industrial Age and built a massive burial Palace for King John III, who died in 1706. The two scientists of Rosalind Franklin and Zu Congzhi both emigrated during this time and built massive Academies to study the Sciences. Venetie was lost in 1733 due to a freak accident in which a massive hole in the walls was simply repaired by putting paper over it, which crumbled and let the invaders in. However, it was regained that same year, with Longbowmen being used offensively for the first time in ever in Dutch History.
