It was really a huge dissappointment that Civ III was rushed out the door before being even really ready to be given away for free, much less sold. I think that hurt the reputation of Firaxis as well as hurt sales of that game in general. Let's let these guys show what they've got and give us a finished, polished, game right from release.

Good idea :-)

How to increase sales?

Advertise the game on the History Channel

"Civ, where history comes alive!!!"

I am sure a lot of people who are interested in history will want to play this game.

However they should pay more attention to the rise of civs (that is the cool part). That part of the game elapses too quickly.

to quote Kalel:
The game doesn’t really replicate the rise of civilization very well.

This is probably the best thought-out idea that will be posted here, and the one least likely to happen ;)

Nothing new.

In fact, Civ3 was advertised at History Channel few years ago.

Amen to this thread. And for God's sake, hire beta-testers.

*eh em* They did. ;) (atleast for C3C)

The thing about Civ3 was, there were just too many bugs with an old engine.

It's like trying to paint over a 100 year old cloth without trying to rip it. If it rips, then you try to piece it back together without ripping it even more. After a certain point, you have more glue and tape than thread. Soon, it's all glue and tape.

They're starting fresh this time. With C3C, they had another company touch the game, and if a change isn't made known to Firaxis, that can cause problems when another programmer makes change.

Friaxis, I don't care how long it takes, just give us the best game u can possibly give, don't feel rushed. I'll be playing C3C in the mean time.

i should be quiet now?
