Little questions & answers thread

Has the green on the highlighted tile always been here? This is the first time I have noticed it.

same for these golden highlight boxes on the resource screen, I've never seen these. I have no mods installed, I feel like I'm losing my mind.

and this trail with animating arrows? How could I have been missing this?

All of these have been there since day zero.

is there a way to update all units in an army?
I just click the army, click the first unit, click upgrade, click first unit, click upgrade, repeat. This works because the upgraded unit moves to the end of the list. I haven't seen an upgrade all button and don't expect to.

How do you actually nuke a city? I still can't figure it out. I have built many nuclear devices and still no option. From what I heard, it's not particularly useful, but I do want to see it in action. I have heavy bombers and nuclear devices (although the game does a poor job of displaying your weapons).

Later in the same game all these stopped showing again. I guess I’m experiencing a rendering bug, this is quite frustrating.

Does anyone know if the Forbidden City's bonus works on the Great Wall?

There is a bomb-shaped button on your air commanders.

I was using an aircraft carrier, but yeah, that was where I was going wrong. I thought the icon would be on the heavy bomber itself. But it was on the aircraft carrier. But I can't figure out why I wasn't able to nuke a certain Hatshephut city. It's kind of strange what cities it will let you nuke, and which ones you can't. It has no problem letting you nuke your own cities. And yes I was at war, and also declared on Ibn who also had troops next to that city I was trying to nuke, but the game wouldn't let me. And radioactive fallout in the oceans is kind of funny. Makes sense, but still funny.

Does anyone know the nuanced differences between Catherine the Great's lvl 2 & 9 Momento?

+5% Science efficiency per great work contained in a city
Vs

+5% Science (no reference to efficiency on this momento) per great work displayed in a city

The first one improves the science yield of the city the great work is displayed.

The second one increase your overall science per great works slotted. So it is far more potent, since it boosts all bonus yields, such as the science per codex in the exploration science legacy.

I can only think of two things without seeing the game myself: 1. one of the affected tiles was not in your enemy's land, or 2. your targets were out of range. But it might be bugged - I've only fired off one nuke and I noticed it was extremely particular about where it could be fired (and that the range from the carrier was surprisingly short).

My anecdotal experience is that some wonders extend district adjacency and some don't. Without having specifically tested it, I would speculate that it is possibly those wonders that are required to be adjacent to a district that extend district adjacency, and those wonders that can be placed anywhere don't.
Mine is that the Great Stele, whose requirement is only Flat Terrain, does extend District placement, but only once it is itself connected to the Town Hall.
Does the palace get its science+Culture adjacency from Wonders as well as Quarters?
No.

Planning out my city and have a question. If I have a land tile that is only accessible through a coastal tile, can I build a fishing quay on that coastal tile and then use that to build an urban district on the tile in question? In other words.

Urban tile -> coastal tile (with fishing quay) -> lonesome tile (tile in question)

Yes, you can do that.

I got 25/20 needed legacy points in the Modern Age but cannot make the Manhatten Project wonder nor Operation Ivy. What other prerequisites are needed?

The odeon description says it recieves it +1 culture for quarters, but the tooltip doesn't - am I right in thinking the description is correct?

After some research it appears others have had the same issue as you. The one thing that seemed to fix it was by converting a town to a city and then it became available to build. The thought process was that their current cities didn't have the room. Seems rather odd, as I would think that would be something they would notice, probably?

Based on the time it took for you to get an answer, were you able to figure it out already? If so, what did you find?

Is this a known bug? The banner of the city state that I took over is still visible under my new city banner.

I'm unclear on the benefits of Natural Wonders in Civ7. Yes, if I found a settlement near them, I get some benefits in THAT settlement. Do they help the rest of my empire? Am I missing something?

In Civ6, of course, discovering one gave you era score. I'm trying to figure out how excited to be with new Natural Wonders coming in the about-to-be-launched DLC.
