Little questions & answers thread

After some research it appears others have had the same issue as you. The one thing that seemed to fix it was by converting a town to a city and then it became available to build. The thought process was that their current cities didn't have the room. Seems rather odd, as I would think that would be something they would notice, probably?

Based on the time it took for you to get an answer, were you able to figure it out already? If so, what did you find?
I saved, quit to desktop, and a few hours later when I reloaded it was available. Seems like a glitch... Poppy Li where are you? (reference to an AppleTV series called Mystic Quest).

Has anyone figured out what causes commander ability Initiative to stop working? It worked fine for a while then stopped on all my commanders. I'm about to go to exploration age, hopefully that fixes it.

The civilopedia should tell you what you need to know. They give direct yields, so you need to work them with rural districts. Most also have indirect bonuses that apply to the settlement.
OK. So if I find one on the far side of the world, already being worked by another leader, it's no big deal.
I would have to really want the benefit to conquer the AI settlement working the wonder.

Yes. I find it rare that I can control more than one wonder. It's odd, since the game has the exact same distribution of wonders as Civ 6, and I could control a few with a bit of effort. I suspect it is a combination of the map generator ensuring they are spread out, and the fact that cities just absorb land much more quickly.

Does incense do anything in the Exploration age? It’s supposed to give 100% production to building missionaries and temples but I don’t see it making any difference when building missionaries.

IME this usually happens when the commander had initiative/weather gage before transitioning, then upon getting a free commander level. I noticed this mainly when I had fairly high leveled commanders with initiative getting the bonus level from the military attribute tree at the start of transition (after investing points in attributes), then units would unpack with 0 movement from them afterward. I recall most other folks reporting similarly (initiative/weather gage not working after their commanders got a free level).

Thankfully it seemed that initiative/weather gage works for subsequent commanders. So something weird is happening in the transition.

Someone else reported that it wasn't working for missionaries. I wonder if today's update fixed it?

Does anyone know how the American Prospector Unit works? Is there some limited distance from my cities he can grab resources or can I literally send him anywhere in the world? Does that grabbed resource then become my territory, that no one can grab without declaring war? Does he work on water resources?

The official game guide is actually handy!

Prospector: Unique Civilian Unit. Activate on an unowned Land Resource tile within a set number of tiles from one of your Settlements. A path of tiles is claimed back to the Settlement and the tile's Resource is improved immediately.

The tool tip on the actual unit gives 5 tiles as the distance from one of your settlements. Don't now if that is affected by map size; that value was on standard. Allows you to pick up quite a few additional resources in lands between towns and cities.

When you say transition you mean age transition right? Mine stopped working halfway through the same age.

So now that we know Bulgaria and Nepal's kit, is there any info on what Bolívar's abilities are?
